How do you fix DD's hair?

Does she just let you do it or how do you get her to let you do it?  Lily refuses to sit still for me to fix her hair every day so she ends up going out with half combed hair stringing in her face.

I will hate to have to get it cut (hasn't been able to sit still for that yet either)!  Any suggestions for me?

Re: How do you fix DD's hair?

  • I am just like you!  (see my excited post below)  I did her hair this morning while she was sleeping on me :)

I saw a pic of her at daycare and her hair was all hanging in her eyes.  I realize, I have GOT to do something!!!  So, hair-doing while asleep it is!

  • The funny this is, when I pick her from daycare there are many days where her teachers have fixed her hair so cute as they all sit there and wait to be picked up.  So why doesn't she sit for me to do it?

  • DD lets me do her hair because she hates having it in her eyes.  If she's antsy and I need to get it done fast then I'll put on a quick TV show or put her in her high chair and give her a snack.  She'll sit still for me to do it.  I usually do pony tails or a side sweep with a clip.
  • I bribe her, and I am not kidding.  She hates to let me do her hair, so I will tell her if she doesn't sit still long enough for me to finish we won't be able to do what we have planned.  Usually it is something she's excited about, so it works.

I think our DDs are twins!  Same thing for me, I will pick her up with piggy tails.  Daycare is a magical place...

  • Most days it's a fight. I'll get to pull her bangs back in a clip or band and partially brush the rest of it.

I did take her for 1 professional haircut so far and she sat VERY still. I think it had a lot to do with it being a strange person doing something strange to her.

  • Her daily do is a side sweep with a bow clip (see sig pic).  It is the only thing she'll let me do with her hair since it only takes a couple seconds (I usually don't even bother brushing it....unless she needs to look polished for dressier occasions).
  • I'm just lucky.  DD has literally needed her hair pulled back since she was 4 months old, so she's just never known anything different.  I will say that the daycare ladies can do much more elaborate stuff than I can. . . she'll sit much longer for them.

  • I have the same struggle you do and sometimes daycare does her hair too.  About all the time she wears (what little she has down) and stringy; the other half I get her to do pig tails

  • DD is 3 (well, she will be on Monday) and I have never had a problem fixing her hair. I have also never cut it.

I think it's to her advantage that she let me do something with it because she doesn't have bangs and her hair is still a little too short to stay behind her ears and she HATES having her hair in her eyes/face.

After she gets dressed in the morning I put on Playhouse Disney and have her stand in front of me while I sit on the couch - she watched tv and I do her hair.

I keep it simple, usually her hair is half up/half down with 2 pig tails. That keeps it out of her face the longest.
