Last night, when I went over to Juliana's crib for her middle of the night feeding, I found that she had worked herself over to the side of the crib with her head against the bumper (with a swaddle on). DH found her like that again first thing this morning. I'm think that maybe we should remove the bumper because I don't want her to get caught against the bumper and not be able to breathe (though she has good head control). DH thinks that it would be worse if she hits her head against the side of the crib without the bumper. What do you think? Maybe I should get a breathable bumper, but what should I do in the meantime?
Re: Help solve this debate...
I would take the bumper off. I've been wondering the same thing with Sophia because she will work her way to the rails and either gets her arm through the rail or bumps her head on the side. I tried to put the bumper pads on the other day and took them back off because I'm afraid of the same thing you are. I heard the breathable bumpers only really keep them from getting their arms through but really don't keep them from hitting their head on the rails. I could be wrong though, I didn't go check them out in person.
Me too. We never bought or used one.
