Zicam?

DH has been sick with a cold for about a week and a half, and I've been doing everything possible to not catch it (but apparently not enough).

This morning I woke up with a sore throat, and now my head is pounding and I just can feel it in my ears that I'm getting sick (everytime I get sick my ears start hurting).

I called the doc's office to see about taking Zicam- because that stuff seriously works wonders! The reception nurse did not know off-hand, because she does not know the ingredients. She recommended other things, but they are more like medications for once you are already sick. I DON'T WANT TO GET THAT FAR!

The doctor is out today.?

I'm at work, and just want to crawl into bed and cry...

Have any of you heard anything about Zicam while pregnant???

From the Zicam website:

"As stated in the 'Warnings' section of the Zicam package insert, if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you should seek the advice of your physician before using Zicam. Allow the physician to know the only active ingredient in Zicam Cold Remedy is zinc/266 mcgs per dose."

If your doc is out of the office, I know it sucks, but I'd wait until tomorrow when he's back in.  Can you get in touch with a pharmacist instead?

My doc ok'd it.  They have a sore throat spray that was very helpful.  My Dr was for taking localized meds (nasal spray & throat spray) as opposed to taking a pill that goes through the body.  HTH Feel better.

I'm not sure about Zicam, but I'm in the exact same boat your in.  DH has been sick for the past 4-5 days and I really thought I had avoided it somehow, but then today it hit me really fast. It totally sucks being sick! Hope you feel better and don't get it bad!
