2nd Trimester

do you ever feel...

Like you're too young to be a mommy?

I'm 26 and preg. with my frist... I totally not that young compared to alot of you girls on here but sometimes I still feel like I'm so young and what the heck am I doing!!  I feel like I'm still a teenager sometimes.  Both DH and I have older married siblings but ours will be the frist grandchild and most of my friends don't have kids yet either.

Re: do you ever feel...

  • Yes. I'm 25 and on #2! Sometimes I wonder "is this real? Or am I just playing house??"
  • Loading the player...
  • Today I am 28.. I feel too young to be a "grown up"  Kind of thinking... when did that happen....

my friends have just started having babies too, so I guess I'm in with the "norm"

My cousin called to wish me a happy b-day and asked how old I am, I told her, she reassured me with a "Gosh you're old"  Thanks!

  • you're not alone, i think that crosses every womans mind regardless of age when it comes to their first.  life changing adjustment... all for the better that we will, obvously figure out. =)
  • I'm totally in that boat.  Some of our friends are married, only like one couple has a baby (which they JUST had last week), but the majority are still partying.

I remember when I went to the store to get the pregnancy test I totally felt like "bad" like I was a teenager buying a pregnancy test and as I was walking out there were 3 nuns coming into Wal-Mart and I like shoved the test into my purse like I was doing something wrong. I told my best friend and she cracked up! I was like "I felt so young and dirty, even though I'm 26 and a married woman!" LOL

  • well I'm 22, so that should make you feel a bit older, jk. but yeah I feel like everyone is older than I am. But then again there is always Jamie Lynn Spears and girls like that.
  • I have had several moments of reminding myself that I AM old enough to have a baby, even though I am 28...I think it's just something you always think of as being so far off in life that it still feels surreal! ?:)
  • Yes, you are not alone. I am 27, and pregnant with my first. I remember when I found I was pregnant I had a brief "oh shit I am not ready" moment, but I think it is just the reality of all the changes that will be taking place. Our baby will be the first grandbaby too, and I feel better about it knowing we are in a position at this point in life to comfortably have a baby.
  • All the time! I had dd when I was 26 and it felt so surreal for a long time. Now at 29 I am feeling too young for 2 kids. I don't think I will ever feel like an adult though.
  • I'm right there with you and I'm 28 - we live in brooklyn and none of our friends here have kids, and everyone I work with looks at me like I'm so young to be having a baby.
  • Yes and no...I'm 23 (almost 24 when the baby comes) but I feel like OTHER people feel like I'm too young. Do I feel ready? Not necessarily...

However, I'm recently starting to feel really old for some reason so...
