Random thoughts about Twilight Series..

1. I haven't seen the movie yet...I feel like it will ruin the image in my head.

2. I think that the parts in the movie where they show them flinging around through the trees and what not mae it look ridiculous, ( yet I do not think the idea of a girl falling in love with a 100 year old highschool vampire to be too "far fetched" to enjoy immensely...)

3. I thought the second book had way too little Edward.

4. I am reading the 3rd book now- verrrrry slowly, b/c I don't want to be done. this makes me feel REALLy losery. Even loserier than I feel about being really into a teen fiction series.

5. The parts where the books talk about edward picking up bella and like....buckling her into the car, or something bug me...if I were dating a guy-no matter how hot- I would not be ito being all tossed around and manhandled...you buckle babies into their seats- not girlfriends. it paints a weird picture for me, and I want it to stop.

6. there was this couple in my school in middle school, and they were super inseparable and just walked around and held hands all day and didn't talk to anyone else, and would stop and warmly embrace in the hallways and next to lockers and what not...they are who I picture when I think of how the book describe Edward and Bella at school...This couple always grossed me out...they were total heshers though...and they never smiled. If they were so freaking in love and happy, why didn't they ever smile? HUH?

yeah..so if I were the editor, I suppose this would all be stuff I wouldda mentioned. like it matters.

anyone else have any thoughts about these books? ( not the 4th one, though- I haven't read it yet!)

Re: Random thoughts about Twilight Series..

  • 1. It's definitely not as good as the book.  But, Edward is so.effing.hot that it didn't ruin anything for me.

    2. yeah, kinda ridiculous.  But, I "suspended disbelief" LOL

    3. AGREED

    4. I am a total loser too

    5. Is doesn't stop.  And yes, she is setting up back a few years..

  • #5--I HATED this about the books. ?Hated it. ?Especially when I thought about all the 15 year old reading them ?Ugh!

But if you continue reading, you will see that their relationship progresses and I think you'll be happy to find that things become more equal between them (particularly in book 4).

  • Loading the player...
  • so is book 4 good? I LOVED the first one (a little too much) the second one, I felt was a bit of a rip off, b/c they wasted too much time with stupid Jacob Black...and the third one is good...though again with the too much Jacob Black.

I want #4 to be just like #1. Is it? Is it? is it?!?!?

  • I found #4 to be a bit out there...but yes, definitely better than the second.  You will like it.

I'm with you...too little Edward, too much Jacob in the second.

  • thanks, girls...it feels good to have Co-Losers...I think I'll go read my rationed amount of #3....

    night!

  • I like Jacob, so I liked #2! ?But most people feel like you I think, and really love #4! ?It is a bit out there, I agree--but I still enjoyed it!
  • I was so bummed when I was done with #4 that I read the unpublished "Twilight from Edward's POV" on the author's website...LOHOO-SER

    1. I haven't seen the movie yet...I feel like it will ruin the image in my head. - i loved the movie so much. ?i knew there were going to be some cheesy parts, and there sure were, but i was able to overlook them because it followed the story in the book so closely. ?i LOVE that. ?too many movies are ruined for me because of so many deviations from the original story. ?although i confess that i don't think rob pattinson ("edward") is hot. ?and he's greasy. ?ew.

    2. I think that the parts in the movie where they show them flinging around through the trees and what not mae it look ridiculous, ( yet I do not think the idea of a girl falling in love with a 100 year old highschool vampire to be too "far fetched" to enjoy immensely...) - yeah, see my answer to #1. ?cheesetastic.

    3. I thought the second book had way too little Edward. ?- this is what i liked about it. ?i love jacob. ?team jacob all the way (even though i know they're MEANT TO BE [barf])!

    4. I am reading the 3rd book now- verrrrry slowly, b/c I don't want to be done. this makes me feel REALLy losery. Even loserier than I feel about being really into a teen fiction series. - i bought the 4th book and waited a whole two weeks before diving into it, simply because i didn't want it to end. ?NOW who's the loser?

- there's a lot about this series that's totally wrong, and convey a horrible message to teens about how they should act in a relationship, but i still loved the books. ?heh.

  • I liked the movie. There were parts where it was cheesy for sure, but it was good. I think part of the cheesiness was because it was fairly low budget. They had no clue how big of a deal it would end up being. I'm betting that the next 3 are MUCH better in terms of effects and screenplay.

I also like Jacob, so I don't mind how much he is in the other books. I think he sort of has to be in there too, or the books would be too much of the Bella-Edward thing and not very interesting.

I get annoyed by how inseparable they are too. Its just strange. Don't they ever get sick of each other?

  • First of all, I have been wanting to see the movie, but I had no idea it was based on a book.  Are they supposed to be children's books?  Not that that matters much.  Some of the best book series I've read (Harry Potty and The Golden Compass) are for kids.

  • Helllooooo fellow loser.

I did not like #2.  There was way too little Edward, and Jacob annoyed me.  He continued to annoy me throughout the series.

Book 3 was my hands-down favorite.  4 is way, way out there, but I loved it too.

I loved the movie.  They made the Mike character supah annoying, I wanted to hit him a few times, which is good because I felt bad for him in the books.  I want to see it again.  Just so I can swoon over R Patz some more.  Yum-O.

  • I think the whole Twilight Series needed a MUCH better editor. There are too many parts with little action or character/plot development. The author uses the same words/descriptions over and over. (i.e. everything is "breathtaking")

I hated the fact that Bella repeatedly claims she can't live w/o Edward. She would rather DIE than be separated from him, etc. Edward says the same type of thing. I know teenagers are like that, but it seems irresponsible to legitimize that kind of thinking. I would not want my young teenage daughter reading the books for that reason.

A lot of the major plot developments are very predictable.

My two favorite scenes in the series are in Eclipse. You will probably recognize them when you get to them. Very sweet dialogue that makes you understand Edward better.
