potty training

what do you consider potty trained?

- uses the potty with almost no accidents *while awake*, but doesn't always notify me (just goes to the potty on her own)... which won't help while we are out and about and her potty isn't readily available.

-telling when she needs to go

-no accidents... ever

We are the first option, but I am still way too nervous to get out and go to playdates yet.  Am I being oversensitive to this?

Re: potty training

  • 1 and 2.  I just make sure dd goes before we leave the house... and if it's been a while, we make a potty stop while out in public.  Dd made great advances when we switched to regular big girl undies... aka "princess pants."   Even some of the trainers, she'd think were diapers and would pee in.  We switched when I knew she knew she was going... so I'd notice her go to a certain spot or get a look on her face like she knew it was coming or would ask to go potty. We read lots of potty stories and then one day when I was getting dressed I asked her if she wanted to wear big girl undies like mommy and her face lit up!  That was all it took to finally make the transition... trust me, there was a lot of back and forth (poor thing had a lot going against her though, new brother, big move, new school... a good bit of change in a year's time... she'd make a step forward, then fall back).
