Colic - how did you know?

My DS has reflux but we seem to have gotten that under control (all symptoms went away except the crying) and he cries ALOT.  How did you/your dr. figure out if it was colic versus something wrong?  He just gets so upset, gets all red, screams and sweats.  I think it might be overtired as well but it is the crying that keeps him up so it is hard to say.  He also seems to have some great days where he hardly cries and others when it is all waking hours.  Also, how long does it last?

Have you tried the 5 S's with him when he gets fussy like that?  When DS wasn't in pain they worked wonders for us.

If the baby's crying 3 hours a day, at least 3 times a week, it's considered colic.  I think it's mostly due to gas & stomach pains.  Mylicon didn't help us too much.  DS had colic from the day he came home from the hospital, but it began clearing up around 8 weeks.  Now, at 10 weeks, it is gone.  I hope it gets better fast for you!  Just remember that it doesn't last forever!
