Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Is this normal for his age?

Josiah will NOT let me do anything without me holding him lately. He cries as soon as I put him down to play with his toys or go to the bathroom even.  I know when he had surgery they warned us he might become clingy, but that was almost a month ago now, so I don't know if it would be taking effect this late.  Is it just a normal age thing?  I love him but damn... I'd like to pee on my own sometimes...

Re: Is this normal for his age?

  • DD was clingy from the start and started to let me put her down some at 3 months old. Now she has a clingy day or two now and again and then is back to her normal self.

  • Kaden did this but when he was much younger. Maybe it's because he hasn't been feeling well.

    Is he doing better today?

  • He does seem a little better but it might be going down hill fast.  I haven't started the Tylenol/Motrin rotation yet, I'm wondering if I should. ?? I never know...
  • I should add that DD gets like that alot around growth spurts and I'm sure Josiah will be on a permanent growth spurt for a while making up for lost time, so that could be it too.

Poor guy, I feel so bad for both of you. If you don't mind me asking why do they think that Tylenol or Motrin would help? Do they think he is in pain? Could he be teething? That could explain the clinginess also. I know he seems young for teething but it is possible. Tylenol would help for that.

He actually does have a tooth popping through, but the Tylenol/Motrin rotation was for his surgical complications.  He seems like he is in pain big time, or at least did yesterday.  I started the rotation and he was back to himself.  Maybe the tooth, surgical pain, and the combined growth spurt make him just want his mama.  It's fine, I don't mind the snuggling, I just want to pee and maybe type with 2 hands once in a while.  Poor little guy...

  • Well you sure got the whammy didn't you!! I'm glad he is doing better with the rotation of meds.

I know how you feel when Kaden's hernia was bothering him he wouldn't let us put him down at all and I was home alone with him and EPing at the time. I had to have my mom come over so I could pump or I would go 5 hours between pumping. Then of course I got mastitis and could barely do anything.

I hope he feels better very soon and that you will be able to pee and type with 2 hands again.
