Having presents under the tree is a pain

There are only 4 presents  under the tree, but J keeps pulling them out, playing with them, trying to open them.  When we say they're for Daddy, he gives them to MH and then says "Open, open!"

I hate to have a bare tree, but we may to remove all presents until Christmas Day.

What are you all doing?

As it is, we have no ornaments on the tree and may skip that as well.

Toddlers and Christmas trees are worse than cats and Christmas trees.

Re: Having presents under the tree is a pain

  • We just put our tree up last night.  We normally put it in the basement however I guess we were feeling daring this year because we put it on the main floor in the living room.  It looks awesome (right in front of the front picture window --- AWE!).  But I'm not too sure how it's going to go with the kids.

We will NOT be putting presents under it until Christmas Eve when they are in bed.  But that's also because I *heart* my tree skirt and don't want to cover it up!  ;)

  • I have zero presents under the tree.  I've never done that before, but this year there was just no other way.  Plus, think they will be excited when they see all the presents under the once bare tree on Christmas day.

I removed all the ornaments from the bottom of the tree where they can reach after Sydney breached our barrier and had a glass ornament in her mouth.

  • No presents under the tree until Christmas Day. And only the top half has ornaments. Very attractive. Gina continues to yell at the tree to "Go OUTside!" like she is mad at it. lol.

Your card is beautiful, thanks! The design is great

  • We don't put any presents out until Christmas Eve after DS is in bed.  He would be pulling them out constantly.

  • We just have a few under..gifts to cousins and friends' kids..she doesnt touch them or the tree..I guess we are lucky!
  • We don't have any presents under our tree yet for that reason.  I am sure DD wouldn't leave them alone.  I plan to put them out after she goes to bed on Christmas Eve.  She hasn't really messed with the tree or anything but presents I know she wouldn't leave under there.

  • Sam keeps moving the ornaments around & trying to play w/the tree - we decided the presents will magically appear christmas morning.
  • We have a few presents under the tree, but they are pushed towards the back. I don't even think he knows they are there (even though he uses the tree skirt as his road for his cars sometimes...lol). We have all the soft ornaments on the bottom half of the tree and all the breakables on the top half. He is very good at not touching the tree. He will just stand there and look at the different ornaments from time to time. The way we have our ornaments are because of the animals (1 big dog and 2 cats), mainly.
  • We don't put gifts under the tree until after DS goes to bed on Christmas Eve.  Mainly because I want him to be surprised when he wakes up Christmas morning seeing all sorts of presents under the tree, and also, because I don't want him getting into them.

With the ornaments, we have been really lucky.  DS was never real interested in the ornaments.  But I have a few friends who put a baby gate in front of the tree to keep little fingers away.

  • 2 trees. One formal nice big one with all the presents under it. This tree is gatd off.

Tree # 2 is kid friendly with no presents under it.

  • Same exact issue.  I'm going to have to have a bare tree until Christmas Eve.  I did put our Little People nativity set under the tree so it doesn't look quite so sad.
  • We have a tradition in my family (for as far back as I can remember) that we put the gifts under the tree on Christmas Eve after church. We make a big deal of bringing all the gifts out of hiding. It's a fun tradition and we will do the same thing when we start celebrating Christmas at home without extended family (who knows when that will be!). It's fun seeing the tree go from bare to full and the kids get so excited.
