is this gross?

I came upon DH making his new favorite snack: a peanut butter, butter, and jelly sandwich. Just cold butter between the PB and J. It just seemed gross and like overkill to me, but I don't eat PB (allergic), so maybe I'm missing something?

I like to butter both pieces of bread, then spread peanut butter on both pieces and then jelly on one piece. Fattening, but good.

It does seem a little gross to me!   But I'm not the biggest fan of butter.
