RP: If you have flown with DC

1) What did you dress them in??? I am thinking a long sleeve onesie under fleece footed jammies.

2) If you brought your carrier and stroller to the gate, were they damaged/dirty when you got to your location? A litle nervous the carrier material is going to get icky.

3) Did you wake DC to feed on take off/landing if they were asleep?

Flying cross country with my DD aka "Miss No Naps" alone on Wednesday. Any advice would be appreciated!

Re: RP: If you have flown with DC

  • No advice but I'm doing this in March and I'm already nervous!!

  • 1) long sleeves onesie, pants and jacket.  It got hotter on the plane than I anticipated so I wish I had dressed her in a short sleeved onesie.  When I fly in a week that's what I intend to do.

    2) n/a - but they do have travel bags you can buy.

    3) Nope, and she was fine

GL!  I'm alone next week so I feel your pain.

  • We flew with Sammy when he was 7.5 months.  We were flying to NY so we put him in fleece footed jammies and brought a jacket.  We used the infant seat and had a blanket as well.

No problems with gate checking the stroller.

He was awake for take-off; I fed him, then he slept the entire 2.5 hour flight.

    GL!

  • i am wondering about the same we're flying for christmas. are you bringing a travel system stroller/carseat? i think we are just doing the carseat but i asked Dh if we should put it in a bag or something? i am also wondering do you just carry the carseat with you right until you board the plane?

  • We just flew during Thanksgiving

    1) On the way there I had her in fleece footed pj's. The plane was unbelievably hot and her cheeks were flushed so on the way back I put her in cotton footed pj's and she was comfy

    2) We brought our carrier to the gate (didn't need a stroller for the trip). We packed a big black trash bag to cover the carrier in which we did right before we boarded. It wasn't damaged, but I think this varies and you're at the mercy of who's doing the unloading. I've heard and seen horror stories!

    3) DD was awake during both take offs and landings and we tried our best to give her the paci, but she didn't take it. She wasn't phased by the pressure changes at all surprisingly

If you use paci's, purchase one of those strappy holder things to use while on the plane. I did but DH removed the paci from the holder for one second and DD knocked it to the ground. It was nearly impossible to find not to mention gross! (I could have killed him!)

Trying to change LO's in the tiny bathroom is a huge PITA. Try to avoid if possible. My DD of course took a huge poop and it was the biggest changing disaster ever.

  • We are also flying across country on Wed.  Good luck!!  To pp....we are taking the snap and go with the carseat through the airport and gate checking both.  I've heard it recommended to gatecheck the carseat so you know it will be there when you get to your destination. (SIL arrived at her destination without the carseat and had to wait around in the airport for it to come on the next flight)  I think we will bring a bag to put it in.

Yeah, I am bringing the travel system. She is sitting on my lap, so I can't bring the carrier onboard. I plan on keeping her in the carrier attached to the stroller until we get to the gate. In the basket of the stroller, I will have the car seat base. When we get to the gate, I will collapse the stroller and lock the carrier onto the base. I have to have my base with me, I do not want to have to strap the carrier in and out of the car constantly, and don't want to put it in my suitcase as it is HEAVY. I feel like I should have a bag to protect it, but I leave early early Wed morning and have no clue where to get one tomorrow. HTH!
