We FINALLY got to hear our babies heartbeats today (3rd ultrasound). Oh my gosh, bring out the tissues

! In any case, they were really strong and fast at 179 and 171 bpm. Are those kind of early heartbeats already indicative of gender, or can the pace change significantly as the pregnancy progresses?
Re: pace of heartbeat at 9w indicative of gender?
I believe the heart rate is fastest around 9-10 weeks and then it tapers down to a more normal range there after.
At 9 weeks 3 days we had a rate of 171.
Sorry, but it does not. My little boy had a HR of 170-180 until about 14 weeks. Now he is 150-155 consistently since then.
Our h/b at 10w2d was 173 but today (12w) it was 154. I asked the tech if it was normal to slow so much and she said it was expected. Apparently anything over 175 at 12w can be cause for concern - who knew?
Anyway, I don't know if the h/b gender myth is true, but I think 9w would be too early to judge regardless.

My baby's heartrate was in the 160s at both 9 wks and 12 wks. I heard it does decrease as time goes on though.
Mine was always over 160/170 at that stage with boys.
But it changes quite a bit, so that wives tale is silly to me. It has never worked for me. Mine just started getting lower after 24 wks.
My babies h/b is now 147/150. It's gone from 132 at 6weeks to 171/172 to now 147/150.
