Naps for your 4mo old...

How many naps per day and for how long?

Brady was really good about napping before MIL took care of him for the week.  He normally took 2 45 min naps and one hour and a half nap per day.  Now I am struggling to get more than a 30 min nap per day.  I am trying to figure out if this is because she was overstimulating him or because he is getting close to that four month mark.....

I am hoping he'll go back to his old routine after a few days with his normal caretaker (my mom).

  • Sounds like the four month wakeful. That's about when DD's sleep started going down the crapper (well, her nighttime sleep started getting bad, her naps have always sucked). Just give it a little time and then hopefully things will start getting better.

  • We usually get a 45 min. morning nap and then 2-3 hours (total) in the afternoon and early evening. DS has never slept well at night. He still wakes up every few hours. Recently, he has also tried to skip the naps. I think it is just a phase. Plus, babies this age are going through some major developmental changes. So they tend to wind themselves up with the talking, teething, playing, etc. I would caution your mother about overstimulating him. My mom had my DS up until midnight this weekend  b/c she was playing with him. Not cool.
