NPR: French toast using wheat bread?

I was thinking of doing breakfast for dinner but I only have wheat bread.  I've only made french toast with white bread. 

Thoughts?

I have made it with whatever bread.  Beer, wheat (we don't buy white), texas toast, etc.

We always make ours with wheat.  I think it is delicious.

I make it with wheat bread.  It is good.  Slightly more savory and dense.  I make my bread myself, so that may be why.

I've made it with wheat bread.  we liked it, but it definitely tastes different from white.

Same here. We use 12 grain.
