What's the difference between Desitin and Desitin Creamy?

Is there a difference? One is in a blue tube and the other is in a purple tube.

  • Original Desitin has more staying power IMO.  I use the creamy if DD has no rash, but the original works better for us if she is red.  Creamy wipes off easier at diaper changes though.

  • Ditto the PP.  The creamy doesn't stay on well.  I'll use it occasionally but I prefer the original.  I don't like how the creamy has already pretty much wiped off on its own by the next diaper change.

  • Thanks! I went to the store and I looked on the back, and the original desitin has 40% zinc oxide while the desitin creamy only has 10%!! And since DD's diaper rash was bad, I got the original. It definitely has a stronger odor though. :)
