tracing his hand

I want to do a project for my mom for which I need to trace DS's hand.  He is 3 months, and nearly ALWAYS has his hands in fists.  I just need one decent tracing!  Any tips?

    I did this with my 3 month old... I waited for her to sleep, DH held a book under her hand which opens easily when asleep and I traced.  It is a 2-person, baby alseep job.

    I got nothing!  We tried to do DD's handprints for her baby book.  She got pissed, and what we got was a huge mess!  We ended up getting just one handprint with no thumb, and she moved right when we put it in the book, so it looks like she has about 10 fingers on one hand.  LOL
