MILs thoughts on morning sickness

She never had it.  Lucky duck.

She had an employee call in sick a few weeks ago with morning sickness issues.  She was scheduled for an afternoon shift.

"Um, it's morning sickness.  It's only in the morning.  She'll be fine by afternoon."

Oh silly MIL.  If only it worked that way.

Re: MILs thoughts on morning sickness

  • I've found that people who have not experienced it just don't get it at all. I would tell people to imagine having a stomach bug around the clock, all the time. No, it didn't help. I had people who were less than sympathetic about my sickness.
  • wow, how very understanding.

But, it would be great if morning sickness only occured in the morning.  They really should change the name of it.

  • hahahahhahaha!!!

I had a male co-worker once tell me when I complaiend about not feeling well very early on with Audrey's pregnancy "what, you already have it?  That is not good, you shouldn't get morning sickness until the third trimester!  What did your doctor say about this??"

    yeahh....expert.

  • IF I get pg while we're still living here, I hope I don't have it anywhere close to as bad as it was with Will.  She'd think I was faking or something.

Yep, I'm sticking my finger down my throat.  I love to vomit.

A friend of mine who CLAIMED that she had m/s with her first pregnancy told me that it was "mind over matter"

Yes, because I could just WISH away puking up almost everything I ate for 6 weeks in a row.  Trust me, I would have LOVED to not be so sick I nearly had to be hospitalized ;P

    She can suck it...

I was hospitalized, and this friend was the one who took me to the hospital and visited me several times. Yeah, I had iv's running through me for no reason. I prefer that over wishing it away! People suck.

  • I tell people who have never had it (men and women) that it is like a permanent hangover.

I had m/s 24 hours a day for 8 weeks and it reminded me of being hungover.
