My freshman just told me, and I quote:

"I am never going to do anything in my life that has to do with DNA"

    That's funny.  Studying DNA, genetic mutations and biology is what lead to my current career in biotechnology!  They need to learn that it is responsible for all functions and appearances of your body!  Good luck with those Freshmen!

    I was teaching a group of wanna-be teachers basic life science in college....

    at one point when they were totally slacking I was like, I can't believe you want to be teachers...you don't even want to read a few pages in a textbook...

    they said "we're not going to be science teachers...we're just going to teach elementary school"....<sigh>

    and hence you inherit their educational offspring....they didn't want to know about DNA either.....
