what is a mic-key button vs. a G-tube

My son is going to have a feeding tube put in the side of his stomach next week and just curious what the differance is?

I know one of the big ones is in mic-key the extension detaches after feedings.  With G-tubes it is always there even when not feeding.

most drs put in a g tube first because so everyone can get use to it and usally with a g tube it's tempory with a mic-key button it's for a longer time.

The g-tube is a long tube that is always in the way, and yes the tubing is attached all the time.

The mic-key button is the same size as the g tube but so much better to care for. You have extension tubes that you use for feeds and when you don't need the tube you unhook it, no more long tube.

g-tube you have a disk that helps keep in place.

mic-key button you have a silcone ballon filled with water to keep it in place.

page "sweater" over in multiple board,...I know her little one had a tube put in but I'm not sure what is called. She may have more info on it.
