When did you gals start looking at peds for your baby? Where did you start from?
I have a check up appt with my OB next Friday, so I figured I'd ask her for some recommendations then. My only issue is that her office is in Newport and we live in Lake Forest. All of my Dr.s are in Newport, but that's just because I really like them and don't want to change, plus they are close to my work. I suppose I don't mind driving our little bambino to Newport for his Dr. appts, as long as I really like the Dr.
Let me know if you ladies have any recommendations.
Thanks!
Re: Pediatricians - When & Where?
I chose South Orange County Pediatrics and I am in RSM but they have several offices including one in Lake Forest. I was really impressed...you miight want to check out the website and schedule an interview.

We faced the same issue -- my OB is in NB, but we live in Santa Ana, right by St. Joe's.
I don't have any recommendations in your area, but I wanted to mention that a lot of people told us that you really want your pediatrician to be near your house. I guess it's not so important for baby's well visits, but when the baby is sick, you want something close by. So we ended up picking a pediatrician in Tustin, and a Hoag affiliated doctor saw Keira temporarily while we were still in the hospital.
My doc is in Newport too (Coastal Kids). You should have the Pedi selected before the birth since they visit the baby each day you're in the hospital. I think there are questionnaire's on babycenter and the like to guide through the interview process. A big thing for me as a new parent was if they were too busy to answer my questions during the interview process this would likely be a problem down the road when I needed them (huge problem with the Dr. Sears office IMO).
Also, something I didn't consider when looking initially was that I really preferred having a female for DD as she was getting older. Our first Pedi who we LOVED, quit private practice. He was out of Mission Children's Medical Group. We would have stayed with the group but we had moved north and wanted one closer to our home/DCP if we were starting over with someone new anyway. So I considered female Pedi's when looking for a new one.
That's awesome. Thanks so much girls. This is a great help.
The SOCPA is less than a mile from my house and is covered under my insurance. WOOT! I'll be scheduling an interview there.
I live in Orange on the border of Ana Hills. I still need a pedi too and am looking for referrals. Can I get your Dr's name? Thx!
