after a c-section, how long do I have to....

wait until I can pick up my 2 year old (30 lbs).  I had a c-section last monday.  Going back to doctor next monday.  I really really miss my little man and would love to pick him up.

thanks.

Re: after a c-section, how long do I have to....

  • the "rule" is 6 weeks..maybe 8.  But your son can sit on your lap if he can climb up it.
  • I was picking my DS up to put him in the car or in his crib by 2 weeks (ok, really after 1 week but only if I really had to).  I didn't carry him on my hip until close to 6 weeks.  I just knew I'd pay for it if I did.
  • Loading the player...
  • I didn't carry him around til I was at least 6 weeks, but I lifted him in and out of stuff (crib, carseat, highchair) at 3 weeks.
  • Nothing heavier than the new baby for 2 weeks.

Nothing heavier than the new baby + carrier until the 6 week appointment.

    That's my doc's line.

  • My dr said after a week if I could handle the pain, and that it would be really hard for me to do any real damage. This recovery was tons easier than the first - I'm 3 1/2 weeks pp and have been completely recovered for a while, and have been lifting 30lb ds for well over a week.
