Another anonymous $$ Poll

I would never ask this if I could see who was answering.....
[Poll]

Re: Another anonymous $$ Poll

  • I am not sure of what your definition of cash is.  I get that you are asking about outside of 401K, but are you asking about strictly cash like a checking account or money market, or quickly liquidatable assets like Mutual funds or short term CDs that are not in a 401K, IRA, 529, ect?
  • I think my intention was asking about non-retirement type of money.......just money you might use for big projects, downpayment, emergencies, etc...so I guess it depends on if you keep that in a savings acct or in mutual funds, etc.

....although it is hard to say what money is "for" sometimes, I guess...and if you have like $500k or something, I guess it could be for both.

    Amen.

  • I choose 1-5000 but unfortunately really as of right now it's only $50 so I think that maybe those numbers should be a little closer together.

  • yeah, I only WISH we had $150K just laying around!

I answered including the savings account attached to our checking, the mutual fund that has lost half its freaking value in the past couple months (BLAH) and the whole life policy that has a cash value component.

we really need to just build up the savings account in our bank which ISN'T currently losing money ;P  We send $300 a month to our financial advisor which seems to be going straight into a black hole right now...I know, it is buying cheap stock and all that jazz, but we could USE that money right now ;P
