Feeding every 3hrs, when does it stop???

I never did this w/any of my kids, I fed them when they were hungary.  I am just curious when this every 3 hour schdule stops.  I am babysitting my 6 month (he'll be 6months on Sat) old nephew and he is still on an every 3 hour bottle schdule along w/baby food.  My twin niece and nephew are 6 days younger than him and they are also on the every 3 hour schdule.  (different side of the family)  Sorry I can't spell today to save my life!  The nephew I'm watching today weighs in at 21lbs and that was a few weeks ago.  Just curious.

  • DS still can't go longer than 3 hours without eating and he's 2.5.  I don't go that long either (Except at night obviously).  3 hours sounds like a normal time to mel

  • DS1 did stop until 11 months old.  DS2 stopped around 8 months old.

  • Every 3-4 hours sounds about right...DD has always been on that schedule.
  • DD nursed approximately every 3 hours or got a bottle until she was 12 months old.  She got onto that schedule at daycare, and it just stuck.  (That was every 3 hours round the clock too.)  Even when she moved up to the next room, she was getting a snack when she would have otherwise gotten a bottle.

  • Are the parents wanting you to feed that often and your nephew isn't necessarily hungry? If he's hungry, I'd definitely feed him, but by that point, I was feeding on demand only. In fact, the second I hit the door from the hospital, I was feeding on demand (even though for a while it was still an every 3-4 hour schedule during the day).
