Installing Graco Snugride

For anyone else who has this car seat, do you feel comfortable with how tight you were able to install it?  My DH attempted to install it last night and feels it moved around a little too much.  Is there any car seat out there that can actually be installed tight enough where it doesn't move at all?  I'm thinking no and that it's probably fine, but he's super particular so he's not happy.  He has the latch system in his truck and it doesn't seem like it takes a genius to figure out.  Any tips to make it tighter?  We're probably going to the State Police barracks tomorrow to have them check it out.

  • I just want to say that I am jealous that your hub installed your already.  I am not asking anymore. . . he keeps going "I have X days, X weeks"

  • We just installed ours too and I thought it moved around from side to side a little too much. We're going Wednesday to have it checked at the fire department, so we'll see what they say!

  • It shouldn't move around that much - I know the CHP does car seat safety checks (it's about a 3 week wait for appointments in my area), so def. check w/your local authorities, they'll help you!

Don't be jealous!  I really had to get on his_ass these past two weeks to get stuff done.  It's like getting a teenager to clean their room!  I just keep telling him about my contractions and scaring him into thinking he has much less time than he thinks.

  • We go ours installed by fire dept. The middle seat didnt have a latch system so the had to use the old seatbelt technique. I know the base is suppose to move no more than an inch from the front of the base(part not touching back of seat), atleast thats what they told us. If we wanted to check to see if it was tight enough to move it from that end.
  • We had ours installed- using the latch system- by the police department/EMS.  They told us that the base should not move more than one inch from side to side but that it is okay if the front (where the head of the baby is) moves up and down off of the seat since the weight of the baby will keep it in place.
