shower date question

My sister is throwing my shower along with my mom.  My sister is a teacher and has a 4 day weekend for presidents day in February.  She really wants to have it that weekend (it doesn't matter to me).  DO you think people will come to a shower, given plenty of notice, on that holiday weekend, or is it generally a weekend that people would go away for?

Unless it falls on a week with a school vacation (a week long vacation, not just a few days) I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I don't think many people go out of town that weekend but oyu could always ask around to your close friends/family.

One of my showers w/ DS was on the Saturday before Easter and only one person couldn't come.

I think you are pretty safe on that holiday. I would suggest having it on one of the weekend days though because even though the schools are out and kids are, not all businesses are closed so you don't want to have it on a day where people would still be working. But in general no people don't plan to travel on president's day holiday.

On LI, we get a week off of school starting with President's Day. Most people leave between the Thursday and Saturday before. I guess it depends on where you live as to whether or not its safe.?

I typically don't like when people plan big events on a holiday weekend, it's as if they're taking away the opportunity for me to do something of my choosing.  Last labor day weekend we had a wedding to go to rather than the houseboating trip we usually do... things like that!

I think you are pretty safe w/ a holiday like President's day in a month like Feb.  Most people don't even get off for the holiday, let alone go away in the middle of winter, so I think that's perfectly fine!!   Enjoy your shower!

I do think teachers will be away on vacation that week, but other people won't.  I think if you do it on Saturday and they want to leave for the week on Sunday that would give them plenty of time too.  Do you have lots of teachers coming?
