2nd Trimester

registering

So I'm wondering if it's too early to go register? We don't plan on finding out the sex of the baby, but if we do we don't plan to tell anyone. We've already picked out almost everything and it's all gender nuetral. We have a very busy upcoming new year. We're going to be moving, and we have both picked up a 2nd job, so time is pretty much running out. We have family that wants to buy a couple things for us for Christmas.......but I'm only 15 weeks.....should I just wait, or does it really matter?

Re: registering

  • I think you can register whenever you want.  Chances are, if you register before Christmas, you might get some baby gifts!

We haven't registered yet, but only because we were waiting to find out the sex before doing so.  We did last week, so now we plan to register in the next few weeks.

  • Eh, if you already have things picked out and people are asking for gift ideas already then I'd go ahead and register.  However, that is pretty early.  I didn't register until 22-24 wks. with DS and even then it was rather early because the stock changed and I had to update my registry to make up for things that were discontinued/sold out, etc.  There's really no right or wrong answer to your question though.  You could definitely go ahead and start up your registry and makes changes accordingly along the way as you see fit!  Have fun!

  • I say go whenever you want.  It never hurts to be done early because you never know what could come up.  I registered when I was 19 weeks, I wanted it done before Thanksgiving because I knew if I didn't do it by then it would get put off because of all the holiday stuff going on in December for me and with my shower invites going out Jan. 2 I didn't want to put it off and feel rushed.

  • I think you should register when it works best for you. If you are sure about the items you want, then go for it. It will be one less thing that you have to do later.

I've heard that some items will change and be discontinued after Christmas, so you may have to make some adjustments, but nothing major.

  • I know I've already changed my mind a few times on major things like strollers, high chairs, bedding, etc.  I tend to do that though so we are waiting until after Christmas.  However, if your family wants to get you some things for Christmas, it may not be a bad idea to register for the items you know you want.

  • Register whenever you want!! If people want to get you gifts off your registry -- for x-mas, or whatever -- let them. That is less that you have to worry about. Then you can concentrate on working around what you have bought for you already. I registered at 14-15 weeks and people have been asking me ever since, picking up little things here and there and I am sure I will be getting some stuff for x-mas. Now I feel after the shower I can go over and see what I have left to buy that I didn't get -- I'm sure it'll be less than just taking it all on yourself!
  • register online this way when you go in you can just get the gun and add things....Also sign up for the BRU card for the points...they aren't doing coupons anymore

  • I started that early.  I only registered online... I get too overwhelmed in the stores.  Now that we know the sexes our registries are done other than keeping up with things that become discontinued.
