When you had your second baby was your milk supply more or less then the first time you had a baby?
I have never been able to pump a lot at one time 3-4oz. I was hoping if I have another baby I would have more of a milk supply. I am still breastfeeding. If I had to rely only on pumping I probably wouldn't be able to keep up.
Re: Those with 2 or more children
So, you are BFing AND pumping? Are you pumping after you nurse, and getting 3-4 oz or are you pumping in place of a bfing session? Well, either way, 3-4 oz is NOT bad at all!
Babies only need 24-25 oz per day, or an oz per every hour they eat- if they eat every 2 hours, it's a 2 oz bottle. The milk changes as the baby grows to accomodate the baby's needs.
Well, with DS #1, I had supply isses from the get-go (due to bad advice from hospital staff and pedi regarding supplementing with formula) so I would have been THRILLED with 3-4 per session! With this baby, if I pump an hour after he nurses, I usually get 3 oz. If I do it in place of nursing, I get 3-5 or so. GL!
MORE!!! MUCH MORE!
With DD#1, I was only able to pump 4oz. at the most an hour after feeding her. With DD#2, I would pump 9oz. in 10 minutes one hour after feeding AT NIGHT! I had a ridiculous oversupply.
We'll see what happens with #3.?
