For those of us still here, what parenting "rules" do you break? Whether the rules come from experts, doctors, or family members, let's hear it.

I was set on never bedsharing and just using a bedside sleeper. My baby, since the hospital, would not sleep if not right next to someone or if not being held. It scared me to sleep with him, but I was in survival mode. If we sleep side by side, he sleeps all night, minus some sleepy nursing. Now, he's sleeping more soundly, and I can actually put him down to sleep, but when he was fresh out, it just didn't work.

It's not a rule, but my mom thinks it's weird that I refuse to give cereal. She's supportive of baby-led weaning aside from that though.

I've been told I spoil my baby by some people who believe in older parenting methods, because I hold him and don't let him cry it out ever.

Okay. So I'm a first time mom and my little guy is 7 months old and ever since he has learned how to roll over this has been an issue. (Although he has never been happy during changing time.) As soon as I go to even lay him on the changing pad the truouble begins. He will instantly try to stand or just sit, if I do get him to lay on his back he will roll and try and crawl away, usally crying/ screaming. It normally takes both me and my husband to change our wiggly boy. We have tried to make it fun for him talking, singing, playing music, toys, even his favorite thing, his daddy's phone. I would love some advice or suggestions on how to make diaper changes fun for us. I love him to bits but his diaper changing battles are driving me mad.

We just started the ferber method with my 4 month old and while she has fallen asleep right away with dad with minimal fussing, she literally screams bloody murder with me. Today I noticed on the monitor she kept on falling asleep then startling herself to wake and when I went in to check on her I realized she was waking up because she had stopped breathing for a second!!

Any advice?? Yes we're setting time limits and yes I'm going in to comfort her periodically. Also I asked my mom (a veteran mom of 8) and she said she's fine, it's normal for babies to do that when they're that upset and I should have left her in there and let her learn to comfort herself.

Also, I'm only interested in CIO or sleep training advice. If you're anti CIO our opinions differ so please don't comment.

My DD is 8 weeks today and for the last week we have been trying to introduce the bottle. I go back to work at the end of August and we were going to have her start day care about a week or two earlier than that so I can go get my classroom set up. It's not going so well. She will only take anywhere from a 1/2oz-1oz. I've tried giving it to her and I've had DH do it (more often than me) but she fights it and just cries. How long does it take, on average, for babies to get used to breast milk from a bottle and do you have any suggestions to help her get used to it?? Thanks for your help!!

Reposting from the randoms thread

wondering how to involve a stranger to care for my toddler and newborn in my own home? So far, our schedules have allowed us to be the only caregivers for DS. Things may be changing with our move - our mothers may be able to help but if not, or not enough, we have been toying with the idea of getting a part time nanny/babysitter. This makes me super nervous even though I know people do it everyday. Any and all perspectives welcomed, please and thank you in advance.
