This is a weekly check-in for those in their 1st trimester: weeks 1 through the end of week 13. We've all gone through a lot to get to this point so congratulations and best of luck to all of you over the next several months!
If you are just joining us, please post a little about yourself, your EDD (if it’s not listed below) any upcoming appointments, symptoms, etc. Feel free to also share your IF journey - many of us can relate.
QOTW: When will you announce to people that you're expecting? Immediate family? Close friends? Do you have a special way to do it planned?
Congrats to all of the Mommies & Daddies to be:
Let me know if you have any updates or need to be added!!
Re: ***1st Trimester Check-in, Week of September 26th***
QOTW: When will you announce to people that you're expecting? Immediate family? Close friends? Do you have a special way to do it planned? My immediate family already knows. They all knew about the FET process, so no big surprises there. A few friends also know for the same reasons. I don't plan any big reveals or announcements. I imagine people will catch on when I start looking pregnant!
Hi All! Hope you're all doing well! I graduated from the RE last week and have my first OB appt tomorrow afternoon. RE actually changed my due date to 5/3/17 since he thinks I had a late implanter. Things are looking good though, LO measured right on track last week with a heart rate of 160bpm. DH finally got to come and see and u/s. I think things are a lot more real for him now
QOTW: oddly enough, we didn't tell any family this time around. We want to wait until I am out of 1st trimester. However, my bff, boss and DH's bff all know already. DH wants me to wear one of those skeletal baby t-shirts since we plan to tell family near Halloween time. Nothing else big planned.

QOTW: When will you announce to people that you're expecting? Immediate family? Close friends? Do you have a special way to do it planned? We told our parents the day after my second beta. I told a few other people in the following weeks. I waited until 10 weeks, which was after my previous loss gestation and after my RE graduation to post a big thing on Facebook and Instagram. I'm usually very forthcoming with info in our infertility trek, but this time around I was a little more guarded because of my MMC. Luckily we have so many family and friends praying/sending good vibes for us! We still haven't revealed the trio, but plan to tell our parents first on 10/16 with greeting cards that I'm going to edit to reflect 3 new babies. I'm thinking we'll probably wait until later in October to do a FB/Insta trio announcement.

@aanddm2014 I hope you get a nt scan, mine lasted at least 30 min with just one baby, you'll prob get to see your little ones for over an hour.
Qotw: we told immediate family between 8-10 weeks, I had my nt scan last week at 11w2d so after that we started telling close friends and most of my family, we used the picture below. I just booked a sex reveal 3D u/s for 14 weeks so I'll wait the two more weeks to do a fb announcement so I can also announce the sex.

As for telling people, some of my friends know and some of my family. I am telling my dad this Wednesday provided everything still looks good. He worries a lot, so I didn't want to tell him too early. We will announce to everybody else at the beginning of November with a Thankful Thanksgiving type announcement.

Other than that things are well other than dealing with changing insurance companies because my DH is changing jobs! Its been a nightmare, but I think Ive got it covered FINALLY! even if it falls through my hospital offers a self-pay plan that covers all appt and delivery for a reasonable amount! So there's a 2nd option!
Hope everyone has a great week

I am 11 wks + 1 day! The bump is slowly growing, and it's making me very happy! Won't be able to hide for much longer.
QOTW: I told my best friend on beta day. She has been supporting me through this whole thing, so felt comfortable telling her! We told the grandparents at 5 weeks (not ideal, but we were on a beach vacation with both sets of parents, so it just made sense.... plus they were suspicious of me turning down wine lol). Told the aunts and uncles (my brother and his brothers+SILs) after we saw heartbeat around 7wks. Last week we told our bosses so we could plan out our maternity/paternity leave. I get 4 months. Hubs gets 2 weeks, but is taking a full month... so we had to let them know pretty quickly so they can create a backup plan! We are waiting to tell everyone else at work next week (@ 12wks) and then make our social media announcement sometime after that. Struggling with ideas, so I might wait until a stroke of genius comes. Want to incorporate this onesie though!

FET cycle #3 Transfer July 28th 2016, Triplets born healthy on February 26th 2017 at 33w1d!
We have our NT scan Wednesday morning, we did PGD testing so we know no chromosomal abnormalities, but my understanding is that it can alert to other congenital issues like heart defects as well....and it's a chance to see her again:)
QOTD: I told my mom/sister the week after our beta because they came to visit from Canada and I announced it by giving my adorable 2 yr old niece a shirt that says "Best. Cousin. Ever" (which is now her favorite "nightie" since she is not allowed to wear it yet). I waited to tell my dad/stepmom until 9week ultrasound showed everything ok....my dad has been bursting at the seams to tell the rest of the family and doesn't understand why not. My besties knew right after the beta and I had to tell my tech at work as I work with anesthesia/xrays etc and I need to make sure that I am safe at work....telling my manager if all is well on NT scan on Thursday!

FET cycle #3 Transfer July 28th 2016, Triplets born healthy on February 26th 2017 at 33w1d!
I am 8 weeks, 2 days today. That may change a bit when we have our next US 10/3. This is a surprise pregnancy right after a failed FET, so they are not quite sure on our dates.
QOTD: We've told only my sisters and a few close friends. We are excited about the opportunity to totally shock people with this surprise announcement, since we *just* had our failed FET. We made the mistake (I think) of being too open about doing IVF/FET in the first place, and had to go around un-telling people when our transfer was not successful, so minds will be blown this time around. As I put it, we paid $40k to NOT get pregnant, then got pregnant on our own for free a few weeks later. I've set up a BBQ get together at my brother/SIL's home with my mom also coming for 10/8, and we plan to tell them then. I'm gonna just hand them the US pictures and let the freaking out commence.
It is so strange, but I'm a little sad to not be able to use those cute IVF baby onesies or 'made by science', since this is technically an unassisted/non-fertility related pregnancy. I still identify things that way, though, so I'm gonna stick with this board. In the long run, it's not really how you specifically get pregnant, it is the waiting and the $$ and the hoping and all the hoops we go through that gives us something in common on the IF board vs the regular old pregnancy boards.
Chemo killed my ovaries (along with a BRCA1 mutation, which causes DOR)
4/30/13 ER just prior to chemo: 8 embryos frozen at 2pn. 2 survived to blasts/1 PGS normal
4/16 ER cancelled on CD7: 1 follicle on L/ 0 follicles on R
FET #1 7/13/16 BFN
Super shocker +HPT 9/19
Baby Alyce arrived 5/8/17
Went forward with donor eggs from my sister for baby #2
ER 4/24, 5 eggs fertilized/1 survived to blast and was chromosomally normal.
FET 2/15 (my sister/donor's birthday!). Beta 10dp5dt:172; beta 12dp5dt: 425

QOTW: When will you announce to people that you're expecting? Most likely we will tell the family first at Thanksgiving Dinner when we say Grace, this way both sides of the family are there. Then text or FaceTime to close friends and famil. Do you have a special way to do it planned? There's so many ways but I think my husband will say what he is "Thankful for" and video to see people's reaction. The family won't see it coming cuz we told them we are doing another retrieval in OCt/Nov.
Married my best friend in 2013 (I was 33), After 1.5yrs of TTC got my first BFP naturally on 2/7/15 but ended in DNC on 4/14/15, not viable. In 2015 I was 35...Found out I had only one working ovary, which was DOR, with scar tissue and I ovulated at 7 days, with a small cervix opening and a tilted uterus... Needing an RE was a must.....IUI#1 Sept 2015,,, BFN IUI#2 Oct 2015,,,BFN IUI#3 Dec 2015,,BFN IVF#1 2/1/16- BFN IVF# on 3/29/16 retrieval only - 1 healthy chromosome tested embryo. IVF#3 retrieval 4/23/16- 0 healthy embryos. IVF#4 retrieval 6/17/16- 1 healthy embryo. FET#1-Transferred Both Healthy Embryos on 9/6/16 BFP!! 9/15/16 Beta 22.3, 9/17/16 Beta 60.5 & 9/19/16 Beta 195! 1st US on 9/23/16, only 1 Gast Sac & Yolk Sac found, US 9/30/16 US 6wk 1day saw and heard Heartbeat 120bpm!! EDD 5/25/2017 Had a healthy baby girl via CSection on 5/18/17 8lbs 15oz. Then four months later got pregnant naturally and had a healthy baby boy on 6/13/18 7lbs 6oz (at age 38). Needless to say, anything is possible! I'm keeping my signature open so it gives someone out there hope that anything is possible. Message me if you ever have any questions or just need someone to talk to. DON'T GIVE UP!

QOTW: Pretty much everyone in my life knows at this point. We were very open about going through IVF so lots of people asked, and I didn't lie.
@babylonghorn16 I take my synthroid in the morning and my prenatal at night to make it easy. I had heard if you take something close to the synthroid it can reduce its effectiveness.
@mrygoround congrats on graduating!

Your supposed to give synthroid time to absorb like @ale9687 said, Im paranoid so I like that hr+ leeway before eating or drinking etc! and I chose to take the prenatals later because the ones I used to take made me sick so Id take them before bed! QOTW- I'm showing faster than many women, so I announced at work last week. My close family and friends already knew. I sent out pictures of onesies with different sayings like- #1 Auntie or I Lobe My Grandma. Everyone loved that. I'm starting to let associates and distant family know. I probably won't make a Facebook announcement until the winter or spring.

FET cycle #3 Transfer July 28th 2016, Triplets born healthy on February 26th 2017 at 33w1d!
Im 12 weeks..officially 13 weeks on Thursday this week. I've felt some light cramping, kinda pulling sensations this week...no bleeding though. Anyone else have those sensations?
QOTW - we told our parents, siblings, and a few friends after our positive betas.
Both of our employers we told around 6 weeks.
We just told the only set of great grandparents when we were 10 weeks and showed them an ultrasound.
as for announcing to everyone else and on social media we will do that at 14 weeks. My next ob appt is right at 14 weeks and we will do our NIPT big blood test to check for any chromosomal abnormalities and the sex. We have a cute photo we will use with just our feet, both of our fur babies feet, and a pair of baby toms! SO Cute!
I know that this "vanishing twin syndrome" is apparently quite common and normal, but I was so convinced after we saw both heartbeats at 7w that the twins would be fine and I was so excited about having both. I am utterly devastated and can't really be as happy as I should be about the amazing heartbeat of baby number 2 we got to hear. My doc was happy because he says a single pregnancy is much safer and he prefers it this way. I know we should be counting our blessings and be grateful that one of them made it so far, but it's still so hard...
Sorry to be debbie downer today but needed to share ...
