We are trying to name baby girl #2 and so far Lily seems to be one of the few names we agree on. My DH doesn't like Lilian or any of the other longer names that would end up with the nn Lily. What are your thoughts on Lily as a given name? Is it too much of a stretch to name her Lydia with the nn Lily?
I'm not concerned about popularity, I know its fairly high on the SS list. I'm more worried about how how the name will grow up--is it too cute for an adult?

I worked with a woman named Lily. She was a fifty year old smoker with tattoos that didn't age well. NOT to say that your child will grow up this way, I just felt like Lily was a very ill fitting name for an adult woman. It felt strange calling her Lily. I think it's cute when you're little, but I vote give your daughter the option when she's older to be something else.
