So I should have had our results from the Panorama test last week but they needed a redraw and I won't have the results until next week now. I had an OB appt today and they did the NT scan but didn't have any numbers to compare it to - however, the NT number was elevated greatly at 5.3mm - so I'm freaking out. I called our genetics counselor and she told me I have every reason to be freaking out, since that measurement is a 1:3 chance of a chromosome disorder. Didn't help put me at ease at all and likely made things worse. We lost the last baby to trisomy18. She offered that we could come in tomorrow and do a CVS testing and have the results the following day, but I'm just not ready to take that chance of miscarriage when we don't even have our panorama test results back. I'm freaking out to say the least and trying to stay positive as much a possible but I'm still worried. Has anyone experienced a high NT measurement like this and had everything turn out ok?
I don't have any experiences to share but just wanted to offer you a sign of support. Really sorry you are going through this. I would probably wait for the Panorama as well. Hang in there. Sending positive healthy thoughts your way.
FX for you. I hope everything works out OK. Positive vibes!
I'm curious...why might someone have BOTH an NT scan and a Panorama test? Why wouldn't you JUST do the Panorama/MaterniT/Verifi first to put your mind at ease? I guess I haven't quite understood that and it's possibly a silly question.
The chances of miscarriage from CVS are extremely low based on recent studies...especially compared to the antiquated numbers that most doctors are still citing.
If it will give you peace of mind I'd do the CVS. Your other test results could take up to 10 days. CVS results are almost immediate.
I found a really good conversation on baby center about nt scans. There were like 50+ pages and most of them wound up with good outcomes. There was one girl in particular who had a 6.4mm measurement and her baby was okay.
I'll send up a prayer for you, hun. Please keep us updated!

They wanted to just do an extra scan since prior history. Panorama test should have been in by the time they did this scan but a redraw had to be done. Honestly, wish that they would've just cancelled the scan today since the results weren't in and waited.
I will say a prayer for you and I hope all turns out well! If you can wait for your panorama results, great, but if it's going to cause you too much stress/anticipation you may want to go ahead with the CVS. It is a tough decision, I know, because of the risks, but I was also told that CVS risks are very low. Hugs and well wishes, hon!
@a5swanson my OB office automatically does both NT and Verifi as well, maybe just to complement and compare results?

The nt scan can catch things that are not related to chromosomes. Heart defects can also cause high nuchal measurements.
It took 3 1/2 long years, but we finally got our little miracle!

Unassisted Pregnancy #2 - lost at 15w6d due to T21, severe heart defects, and fetal hydrops
I'm sorry you got these results! I had a previous pregnancy with a nuchal measurement of 6.6 and we chose to do cvs (this was about 1 1/2 years before panorama type tests were available so we didn't have that as an option). Our doctor said she had never seen a miscarriage due to cvs, but I totally understand not wanting to take the risks.
The only reason we did it was because we had already been told our baby wouldn't survive due to fetal hydrops being noted during the nt scan and we wanted to see if we could get answers as to why. So the risk didn't really matter since it wouldn't change the end result in our situation.
I know the wait is hard and I hope you receive good news when you results come back. If you do decide to go through cvs, it really is very safe although it does come with a small risk, it was a bit uncomfortable, but I really appreciated receiving results in 24 hours.

I definitely understand your fears!!! I just posted that our blood test came back weird 46xxx. Which would mean she's missing a chromosome(monosomy) and has trisomy x(an extra x). So ya we are freaked out. We go for an amnio on we'd because the doc doesn't believe the results. He said if it was monosomy of one of the 13s which is what he said it was I would have miscarried in the first trimester. Praying he is right. And I am sending thoughts and prayers your way for normal test results!! Stay strong!
My panorama test came back not conclusive and I went for the cvs the day we thought something could be wrong. Apparently the microdeletions have a lot of false positives! And we were lucky that our baby is healthy.
I've never heard of a cvs sampling coming back the next day. The doctors told me there is absolutely no way to rush the test and it would take up to 2 weeks. It came about 8-9 days later!

You get the first results (FISH results) the next day and the full results a couple weeks later. The FISH results test for the most common chromosomal abnormalities and the sex chromosomes I believe. It's possible those results have to be specially requested but I'm not sure because we were just told we'd have them in 24 hours.

I'm 33 and 13wks 1d today and had my NT sonogram at 12 wks 2d and my first trimester blood draw for hcg and Papp-a. My NT was normal as were my hcg levels. However, my Papp-a came back on the low (.39). They told me that my risk was 1 in 180 but that I shouldn't worry. They told me that they would be concerned if my risk was 1 in 50 or higher. I'm kinda freaking out but I know that many women get the same results and have perfectly healthy babies. My quad screening is scheduled for early January.
