Welcome to the First Time Mothers (FTM) check-in!
This is a thread for the FTM's in our PAIF community.  Check-ins will be posted every other Thursday.  On alternating Thursdays, I'll post a FT & BTDT moms' "Play Date" thread - in which we inexperienced first timers ask for advice and feedback from the more experienced ladies in our communities.

Congratulations, FTM!  Let us know how you're doing this week.  If you're new to the group, please provide your EDD and advise your trimester (I'd do it myself, but you know, math) - Let us know too if you're carrying more than one little bean/grapefruit/bowling ball (depending on how far you are along).

I'm adding a separate item for our FTM's, ordered by EDD (I think the list is just too long to post correctly).

QOTW:  Do you have a favorite literary character?
Who is it & why?

@pblge I also had annoying back pain early, the RN said yes, it's common even when the bambino is a tiny choc chip size bundle b/c the ute is expanding and that moves other stuff and that changes your posture and the back so it's prob not going to be better only worse.

i started walking and that seems to help. also, Add the yoga moves and lots of water!

My heart is as open as the sky.

I kind of fainted at school today. But, I was sitting at my desk working on my laptop. Started to feel nauseous (no big surprise) but then got really hot and dizzy and buzzing in my ears and started to black out. I caught myself and had to lay down on the floor in my classroom while another teacher got the nurse. They checked my blood pressure and it was very low and my skin was pale probably from dehydration. They monitored me until I was better and had DH bring me home. I'm resting now at home and feel a little better. Why does pregnancy bring so many crazy things? I'm 11 weeks 3 days today. Praying that my little beans are hanging in there. No cramping, no pain, and no bleeding thank goodness. They wanted me to go to the ER but I'm so sick of that place and they can't do anything except IV fluids. So, I agreed to drink 2- 20 ounce cups of water and they said I should be ok.

@starlightgator‌ This happened to me a few weeks ago too, while I was in Winners shopping alone. So ya, it's pretty scary. When my Re took my blood pressure last week he said I was "practically dead" and someone suggested carrying those little peanut packages in my purse for when my blood pressure is low, so maybe that's an idea for you too?

AFM, I'm feeling pretty good this week! My back has been hurting a little (like someone else mentioned) but all nausea and aversions have vanished...so yay to that! Oh ya, I did have to buy a few new bras and I'm up a whole size :S Our AS is in a month, so we'll just be patiently (or not) waiting for that.

@Canuck13 Peanuts help with BP?  I have low BP problems and a history of fainting, so I've been nervous about it happening when pregnant.  I've been light headed a lot, but I'll always sit down when I feel like that.  Maybe I'll try peanuts....?

I've had low bp problems in the past (before pregnancy) and had times where I've fainted and dr has said have something salty so maybe that's where the peanuts help. :)

I posted this thread, and then didn't get a chance to add my own update until now.  Eep.

It's been a super crazy week at work.  We have our board meetings 3x/year, which means running between meeting rooms at a hotel conference center from 6:00 am - 9:00 pm for 3 solid days.  I went home a day early, and I'm logging in to my last meeting by phone/web until 3 pm today.
And now for the irony - I left a day early, b/c my boss said she didn't really need me today, and she didn't want me to overdo it, since I'm an old lady carrying twins.  Because of this safety precaution, I was home last night, where I slipped on my hardwood stairs and fell from about two steps from the landing, down into my foyer.  I think it was lucky that I landed on my butt, and then slammed my back on about 7 steps on the way down - - at least my uterus was protected & I didn't fall forward.  Today, my butt is covered in bruises, and there is a welt and cut on my back, and my fingers are sore on my right hand (I tried to hold on to the banister & just smacked into the rails on the way down) - and I have a really ugly blood blister on my scraped up middle finger. But I haven't had any cramping or bleeding, and for that, I'm grateful.

DH heard the crash and came running in, just in time to yell at me to be more careful (surprisingly, this isn't how he remembers it - I'm giving him a pass on this for being freaked out by the noise).  This caused me to lay in a crumpled mass at the bottom of the stairs and start sobbing.  Welcome home, AMshark - you dumbass.  I will not be shocked if I receive socks with grippy-things on the bottom as a belated birthday present.

Not much new with me, otherwise.  I had to break out some maternity wear for the meetings this week, since the oversized sweaters I've been hiding under wouldn't really cut it for board meetings.  That led to a bunch of awkward questions from people - I must *really* be showing, if I'm big enough for people to start asking me (or, all of those people have really big balls).

Sorry so long - I've been stuck in meetings & only talking about work for an eternity (or maybe 3 days), and my back hurts, so, I'm a bit crazy right now.  I'm so complain-y sometimes.

QOTW:  I was a big reader when I was younger, and Anne Shirley  (of Green Gables) was one of my favorites - I also loved Marilla, Matthew & Miss Rachel.  Those were such good books with such great characters.  I always wanted to be as bold as Anne, though, in reality, I'm probably more like the meek Diana.
More recently, I've really liked Arya Stark (I also like Sansa in the books - poor Sansa - I think she's just misunderstood.  She was taught for so long to be a good daughter and proper lady, and none of that has served her very well thus far) - - I've only read the first 3 books - so we'll see how they both develop.  (I've decided I like to be surprised by the HBO show, so I am no longer reading ahead - it's killing me though).

@AMShark‌ I may just send you some grippy socks, myself! Holy caca....glad you're ok!

@gsancho‌ definitely salty snacks and TONS of fluids to keep pressures up!

I realized the QOTW was about a literary character and not an author. Oops
    Married 2007
    3 Clomid IUIs -- BFNs
IVF #1 never made it to transfer
    On "egg health" cocktail DHEA/CoQ10/FRC/Pregnitude/Melatonin
Starting IVF #2 for Feb 2013
    Follistim/Menopur/Ganirelix
Cancelled mid-cycle due to high P4 levels early on.
OCPs again for IVF 2.5 mid-March. IVF 2.5 transferred two "gorgeous" 5-day blasts and BFFN. Even REI is baffled
On indefinite hold until a huge stroke of serendipity led me to IVF 3 May 2014
Testing found positive cardiolipins/APS, now on lovenox and intralipid infusions
Transfer of 2 5-day blasts and (FINALLY) BFFP!! 1st ultrasound shows two sacs and two HB, but one is sluggish, almost expecting vanishing twin Subsequent ultrasound confirmed vanishing twin, but my other Little critter looks fantastic!

@jessimi06 - Clearly, if I had been wearing my lucky socks, it never would have happened. The sharks especially, are too fierce to allow a fall. :D

@AMShark - Yikes! Sorry you went through that. You definitely want something else on those stairs. We have wood stairs, too, but our greyhound can't handle them without some sort of carpeting. We've been looking for something permanent, for the children, as you say, but in the meantime you can get little squares of carpet from Lowe's or similar that you can quickly affix. I don't think the balance issue will be improving anytime soon.

    @ekc630 - Congratulations!!! He's gorgeous!

    @Ashris13 - Happy belated birthday!!

@starlightgator - Glad you're okay! Must have been scary.
