I'm going to start this off with an apology because I'm doing this from mobile, and we all know how that goes!
Madison and MacKenzie entered the world on Wednesday, July 16 at 8:48 AM and 9:44 AM. Madison weighed 5 lbs .08 oz and was 17.13". MacKenzie weighed 6 lbs 4.5 oz and was 18.5". We are absolutely in love!
Jimmy and I went to bed Tuesday night and I woke up to two shooting pains in my lower abdomen. I fell back to sleep and woke back up because I needed to go to the bathroom. Well, I started leaking but it was so light that it confused me. Plus, I'd had an appt that day and the doc said I was barely 1 cm. I wasn't even having contractions. The leaking didn't stop so I got in the shower while Jimmy packed the car up.
We made it to the hospital at 2 AM and at this point my contractions were intense. I was dilated to a 3 and 50% effaced. They admitted me and I got my epidural (AMAZING!!!). They had to enter a catheter into my placenta because Madison's cord was compressing during contractions because it was just HER water that had broken. That fixed her heart rate!
Everything progressed quickly and by 7 AM I was fully dilated and sat up to let Madison drop a bit on her own. She did and they wheeled us to the OR. I pushed Madison out in about 10-15 minutes, and she looked GREAT!
We started working for MacKenzie, but she didn't drop at all when Madison came out. After another hour of pushing and tearing (LOL), we had to do a C-Section. But she made it here! I don't really remember much of it, but they had to give her a bunch of oxygen and bag her when she first got here.
They got me sewn up and DH placed them in my arms! They wheeled us back to my labor room.
Here's where things got scary. DH has sleep deprived epilepsy, and after telling the family, he started seizing in the labor room with me. I had both girls in my arms and my epidural still had my legs numb so I couldn't help him. But he wasn't coming back. He turned grey, his lips were blue, and he stopped breathing. They had to call in the hospital Rapid Response Team, put him on a stretcher, and took him away. He hadn't even held the girls yet. He got admitted and didn't get to see his girls for 2 more days. We Facetimed all the time on different floors of the hospital. Thank goodness my mom and step dad stayed with me the first night when I was recovering.
It was a crazy day, but I'd say it was an even better day when DH finally got to join us as a family! We're finally home now and things are going great! Busy but great!
