We're doing a pancake and pajamas dance party for my son and inviting his preschool friends.. We will have a pancake bar with toppings and are hiring a musician to host a sing and dance along rock party! My son loves pajamas, pancakes, dancing and showing off his stuff, so we thought it would be perfect! We are also doing a Mickey Mouse clubhouse themed party for our family and friends later in the day.
We did a tractor theme for our little guy's 2nd bday last month and it was really cute!

My son had a toy story theme for his third birthday. A friend of his had his party at a firehouse and it was really cool. The kids loved talking to the firefighters and climbing on the trucks and ambulance.
PPD/PPA Mom...it has been super hard, but I'm making it! Slow steps... Mom to Carter (6), and Calianne (1). Proud VBAC, natural birth, breastfeeding, cloth diapering momma!
I feel like at 3 they probably have some certain characters they really love - in our house, DS is obsessed with Woody and Buzz (Toy Story). I have a feeling that might end up being a birthday theme, assuming he continues to love them. He's pretty into Cars and also Finding Nemo as well, so those are other ideas.
For DS, the theme has been whatever he is into at the time...so our themes have been Thomas, Disney Cars, pirates (he was into Jake and the Neverland Pirates at the time) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This year...probably some sports theme...haven't asked him yet.
Ladies, I am following this too as I have to plan my son's 3rd b-day also. Are you doing more family based parties or more kid only parties? I am going back n forth. I feel like my son has a few friends his age but not enough to really do a kid based party. I will prob. stick to relatives too. Just curious what others are doing.
We just had our party last week and this may sound strange but it was just birthday themed. That's what he wanted. He loves picture books where the characters have birthday parties and those never have a licensed character theme -- it's just colorful balloons and streamers and pointy hats. So that's what we did. The plates etc had a sort of general festive confetti pattern. The cupcakes just had multicolored sprinkles.
And the kids LOVED the noisemakers. The kind you blow into and they unroll. They'd stand toe to toe and blow them in each other's faces over and over.
Re: 3rd b day party theme & ideas for boy
I asked my son what he wanted his birthday party theme to be for his 3rd bday. Looks like I"m hosting a Star Wars-Super Hero-Disney-Diego party.
