I am on Effexor. I have an appt with the dr on the 30th to consult about this. I just got a positive OPK and am wondering if its bad to be taking them. Anyone know anything about this? I obviously won't go off without consulting with dr, but I'm just looking for opinions.
I think my anxiety will affect any baby worse than anti depressants at this point. I just want to know if any of you have stories of this.
Thanks ladies!

Some are ok and some are not. I was on prozac and was told that was ok to keep taking. I stopped anyway but mostly because I didn't feel I needed it anymore.
Edit: Also, hai! How are you? Good to see you! Sorry I didn't realize it was someone I knew HAHA

It's a category C, and it looks like that's what most all anti depressants are. I'm on the lowest dose possible. When I went on I asked my dr and she said it was technically pg safe. So I'm thinking its probably okay. I just want to calm my nerves.
Also ashleen I'm so excited!!

Effexor is very hard to wean off of. I would recommened weaning off and switching to something less harsh, because there are anti depressants that are safe for prego women to take, i would ask your doc about switching to one of those.
I was on Paxil for my anxiety before we started TTC. My doctor switched me to Zoloft. We both decided that my anxiety would be worse for the baby than the medication.
I'm on Zoloft and 12w. I am on a low dose of 50mg and will go down to 25mg next week. I will stop it completely when I hit 3rd trimester. I need it more for my extreme anxiety and the benefits for me out weight the possible side effects. My RE, obgyn, and primary doc all know I am on it. My RE was more concerned about the effects during 3rd trimester then anything else. Of course, you need to check the safety of the med you are taking with your doc and if you think you need it during pregnancy, change meds now to a safe one, if yours is not, to see if it works for you. I don't know anything about the one you are taking.
Good luck to you!

I went mostly off them when we started TTC (stayed on Xanax as needed), but there were several times during TTC I considered going back on them, and both my psychiatrist and my OB assured me that there are some drugs that are safe while TTC and pregnant. I quit the xanax when I got my BFP. I had two anxiety attacks early on in the pregnancy and again was told I could go back on something if I felt like I needed to. Thus far I've been able to manage without.
My psychiatrist and OB's view was always that if the disease would cause more risk to the baby than the drug, to give the drug. Severe depression/anxiety is not something to mess with when pregnant, so find a doctor who's on the same wavelength as you about it to help you find the best way to manage it - including drugs if you need them!

When I got my first BFP I switched from Celexa to Zoloft. I stop taking abilify and ativan when pregnant. My OB agreed that my anxiety does more harm than the meds. When I was pregnant with DS I ended up having contractions from anxiety. Get a plan into place. Good luck hun!

I was on anti depressants when I found out I was expecting LO #2 that I lost. My doctor had me wean off right away due to the kind I was on. I was able to wean off just fine but lost my baby shortly after. I really think I should have gone back on them after my loss but I didn't. But I found out shortly after my loss I was expecting this LO so I am glad I didn't go back on them right away.
In the first tri I had times where I felt like I should go back on them because when I felt down, I felt really low. But with DD and every milestone I have hit in this pg, I feel a lot better.
