Chewing gum to relieve gas?

I've heard that chewing gum can help relieve gas pains after a c-section. Has anyone experienced this? When do you start chewing gum, and how often?

I was under the impression gum can cause excess gas from taking in extra air while chewing. Could be wrong though.

I have never heard of this, chewing gum can get your metabolism running due to the act of mastication. I do not know how that correlates with gas though. I think I heard that it can actually give you more gas.

Drinking warm liquids like tea can help.

You are just putting more air into your tummy to burp out some of it.

I wasn't allowed any straws, and I was told to walk to get it out. Doing laps around the maternity ward helped.
