Dd is 5.5 months old and I am still not feeling eager to start solids yet. She was born a month early so I think I will wait until at least 6 months adjusted age, but am curious what everyone else is doing.
I said six months but started this week after DD started trying to drink from my glass and actually started crying when I would not hand over my soon eating soup at lunch the other day! So far she just takes maybe four bites and spits most if it out but is eager to try so it is cute. I am sure it us going to take a while to get to where she is actually eating any real amount which is fine by me.
I let DD play with avocado yesterday. She didn't seem to get it. I think she barely got enough for a taste in her mouth.
She's hit all the "milestones" for eating and I'm letting her take the lead by not using a spoon. I mashed up avocado, she played with it and a lot ended up on the floor/my leg.
We plan to wait until Kinsley sits unassisted, and then for when she actually grabs food from one of us. At least six months, most likely closer to seven.
That said, she was teething on a watermelon rind today...
We're waiting for at least 6 months. DS has hit every milestone except sitting unassisted. Once he can do that past the 6 month mark we'll start solids. I'm so excited to see what he likes and for the faces he'll make!
We planned to wait until 6 months, but ended up starting at just over 4 months. DD has had problems gaining weight and refuses a bottle so that rules out most of our options for additional calories. She has been a great eater and loves when she gets solids.
This was all done with the advice of her Pediatrician and a feeding specialist.

Dd was 3 weeks early and I had planned to wait until 6 months but ended up starting a little over 5 because she stopped taking a bottle for her babysitter and I couldn't let her go that long without eating anything. She's done fine with it. So far we've just done oatmeal and bananas but I made some sweet potatoes for her to try tomorrow.
We will probably start in the next couple weeks. Our pedi said we could start at her 4 month appt to see if it'd help with her reflux, but I still haven't yet.
With DS#1 we started at 4 months because he was ready. He was absolutely interested, had no tongue thrust and was mostly sitting on his own. DS#2 has shown no interest in food, but has hit the other milestones. So we will wait until he is interested. I'm not too worried about starting the day he turns 6 months either. Although, by 7 months I'll be pushing the issue a bit more
we started about 2 weeks ago. we were planning on waiting until 6 months, but he hit the milestones and was reaching from wherever he was to grab my food, and sometimes succeeded. we are doing homemade purees but he is still more interested in my food then his mush so we are taking it slow
We're planning to start at 6 months. He's met all the milestones already and is extremely interested, but we're moving next week so will wait until after that.
We started at 4 mos for both kids and they were both ready for it. DS ate a whole pured banana the other day, of course after nursing on both sides an hour earlier.
We just started. Kendall kept opening her mouth while I was eating and I felt like she was ready. She loves it! I love seeing her facial expressions and seeing how much she enjoys it, but the clean up sucks!
We started oatmeal at 4.5 months and we just started baby food (food I puree myself). We had planned to do BLW but DD was really interested in food and not sitting unassisted yet. I hope to be able to do that when she can sit better. DD loves eating and gets so excited when she sees her bowls and spoons come out. She tries to feed herself the food as well. It is cute.
Just started at 20 weeks. She actually eats quite a bit of it and enjoys it, buuuut now she is pooping 4-5 times a day instead of 1-2 times. So backing off a little now lol.
DD is almost sitting unassisted (she can for up to a few minutes!) and is really taking an interest in our food. But I wanted to wait until closer to 6 months. So we'll probably hold off a bit longer.
I started at 6 months but that's when my baby was ready and showed interest in food. You might find this useful when you start: https://goodmomming.com
Re: When are you starting solids?
I plan to start at 6 months, (DS was a week late,) but if he's not ready then I'm not going to rush him... well, maybe a little bit.
He has tasted a few things and really liked them.

We have given her bits of banana, applesauce and shredded carrots, but nothing formal
The pedi today told me to start her on a potatoes, carrots and zucchine puree (with a pinch of olive oil and parmesan) once a day: DD is 5m old
Within the next 2 weeks. She's almost sitting and opens her mouth for food already. She'll be almost 5.5 months old.
