My 9 week old was constipated over the weekend so the pedi said to put a little prune juice in his formula to help him out. I gave him half an ounce last night and he has had two normal BM's since with no discomfort. I would like this to continue as it is sad to watch the little guy struggle and cry out in pain when he goes. Should I continue giving him the prune juice once a day to keep him regular or just give when needed? The pedi wasn't really clear on that and I know I could call but I would appreciate opinions. TIA.
Our pedi didn't tell us it was as needed and made it seem like we should give it everyday. We gave it 3 days in a row, and he was horribly miserable from stomach pains. Definitely only give it as needed.
