This is my first pregnancy and I am looking for personal opinions; Palmers Tummy Butter or Burts Bees Mama Bee for keeping my stretch marks to a minimal amount on my belly?
Thanks, in advance, for your thoughts
It doesn't matter. Skin elasticity is genetic. If you are going to get stretch marks you are going to get them. No amount of belly butter or lotion will prevent it.
That being said, I prefer BioOil for moisture and to minimize itching. It didn't do a damn thing to prevent stretchmarks for me though. As I say, I tried everything under the sun with the belief that it would prevent it. It doesn't.
Well that is a bummer lol.
I did read some reviews about the Burts Bees one that helped to minimize the stretch marks appearance after their arrival.
Thanks though, I thought the Vitamin E helped the skins elasticity.

Truth.
The breakage that causes stretch marks happens deep within the layers of the skin, and no lotion or oil will penetrate deep enough to have any effect on the elasticity at that level. So, not only are stretch marks genetic, but lotions and oils can't touch them even if they weren't genetic.
I got lucky. Never moisturized and literally got one stretch mark above my belly button due to my old piercing. Can't say the same for my boobs, though.
I used the Burt's Bees lotion for my last pregnancy and I still turned out having a bunch of stretch marks. It all depends on the elasticity of your skin.
