I am running out of choices with my regular clothes, but don't feel like I'm big enough to justify maternity clothes yet! I feel like I need a whole in between wardrobe! Hey, maybe I do. I guess I'll need it after baby is born when I'm trying to lose the baby weight. Anyone else break out the maternity clothes yet?
Re: Anyone Wearing Maternity Clothes Yet?
I have some of my regular clothes that I still like and wear, but I too have worn some maternity items for several weeks! I was also able to pick up a belly band cheap from overstock.com which is pretty good with pants/jeans. A friend that recently delivered had a good statement which helped me feel better about breaking into the maternity stash she had passed along to me. The statement was: You can't put a price on your comfort! So the following week I started shopping the local thrift stores and also the motherhood maternity outlet nearby. Kohls had some nice clearance pieces also. It's been a help as now I less often try on 10 outfits before finally being ok with one!

I am 16 weeks along and still can wear a lot of my regular shirts. At least the ones that are flowy. I have been wearing maternity pants and shorts for about 2- 2 1/2 weeks. It just got to the point where my regular jeans still fit but I was uncomfortable. I was somewhat ashamed at first because I thought it was too early, but I feel 100% better now.
A pregnant friend recently commented that I shouldn't be embarrassed to take the plunge since maternity clothes are SO much more comfortable. I am using the hair tie/BeBand method and it's starting to get annoying. Yesterday I went online and ordered my first two pairs of jeans from Old Navy! They had a sale so I got a bunch of maternity tops as well, although I still have plenty of regular ones that fit. I've also got a pair of pants and a skirt with the foldover waist band like on yoga pants, which is the most comfy option I've found yet!
Anyone else ordering online and not sure what size to get? I no longer fit in my normal jeans, size 2, due to all my extra weight going straight to my thighs. I only ordered one size up, which is what I've been wearing for the past few weeks. I'm afraid my thighs will continue to grow and I'll move up to the next size before I get any use out of the new jeans!
Well I'm glad it's not just me whose thighs are getting bigger. For some reason i thought the weight gain would just be in the stomach and breast...I was getting worried that i was putting on weight in the wrong places.
Since it's summer, I think i'll play it safe and just stick to maternity dresses. Since the baby will be a winter baby (January), i'll worry about pants sizes later in the year.
I think I have been wearing maternity clothes since week 11 or 12 and I'm 16 weeks now! I am carrying very low, so my pants and shorts have not been fitting for some time. Even at 10 weeks it was uncomfortable. I work in a dental office so I forwent the hairtie or belly band and just went straight for the maternity pants/skirts/dresses. I am going to need them sooner or later so I may as well be comfortable. I can still wear some non-maternity shirts and a few dresses, but with as low as baby is, normal pants were out of the question almost 6 weeks ago!
I have looked for sales. I found some things from Gap meternity that were on sale after I found out I was pregnant in May, they still had some fall/winter things on sale in my size at that time so I snatched them up I have gotten leggings from Old Navy and am really happy with them. I just ordered some shirts/sweaters and skinny jeans from Motherhood. I'm waiting for them in the mail now. I also found a website called Asos. They have a limited maternity selection, but what I have found them useful for is dresses. I have a wedding coming up in October and I always like to wear a dress for Chirstmas even though it's freezing They have a nice "dressier" dress selection than most other maternity places.
I am not all that big yet either but went ahead and bought maternity pants for comfort. I was tired of fighting with the belly-band every time I went to the restroom or it rolling up and exposing my zipper.
I found a pair of jeans at Motherhood for $25 that I love and a couple of pairs of dress pants for work. The tops I am still making do with what I have and wearing cardigans, sweaters, etc. Leggings are also a good go-to staple and very comfortable.
Hope this is somewhat helpful!
Yes, definitely! This is my second pregnancy, so I actually started wearing maternity clothes at 10 weeks. Even with my first, I think I was in maternity clothes by 12-13 weeks.
I find you do often need some separate mid-pregnancy and late-pregnancy items. I was pregnant during a different season last time, so my pants from my last pregnancy (worn during the third trimester) don't fit me at all -- they're huge! I had to buy four pairs of "mid-pregnancy" pants this time around (the kind with the elastic low-belly instead of the huge spandex pull-over full belly).
I am still wearing some non-maternity shirts and some tighter/fitted maternity shirts, and I have plenty of non-maternity stretchy empire-waisted dresses that will fit for quite a while, but other than that I've made the switch to maternity clothes. You'll be much more comfortable.
im 16 weeks and i have just ordered my first set of maternity jeans and maternity trousers for work.. generally i have been just wearing my looser fitted tops and alot of my dresses still fit for work. I bought a couple of maxi dresses in the next size up which give me plenty of room for when i get bigger but trousers and jeans were a no go and were too uncomfortable to keep them on for any length of time.
Leggings have been a life send come the weekend though but im lookign forward to my maternity jeans coming
