I'm wondering if I can get pregnant with my second child while continuing to breastfeed my 6-month daughter. I'm planning to breastfeed for another 6-month. I heard that I actually need to stop breastfeeding in order to get pregnant. Is this true?
Your chances of conceiving is low, but not impossible. I think breastfeeding is about 85% effective at preventing pregnancy. Don't quote me on that, though.
Yes you can. There's a huge range of normal as to when your fertility will return though. Mine didn't until I nightweaned around 16 months - got pregnant before I ever got AF. Once you start introducing solids and go longer between nursing sessions, it becomes more likely that your fertility will return. But there are some women who won't ovulate until they wean completely.
Re: Can I get pregnant while breastfeeding?
yes you can! (ie dont think BFing is an effective form of BC if you dont want to get pg)
have you gotten a PP period yet?
my friend conceived the first night she was given the "ok" by her doc to have sex (6 wk pp) and she was EBFing.
