Nursing and occasional drinks.. What do u do?

How do u guys handle occasionally drinking 1 to 2 in a 2 hour span at dinner... How many hours after do you wait to nurse? I should just buy the Strips but they are so expensive...


Haha had to edit cuz mobile bump deleted my dash between one and two so it looked like it said 12... Jeez!

If I want a glass of wine, I nurse DD and then have it. I know it will be a good 3-4 hours before she nurses again. Or I just wait until 8 when I know she's down for the night.

I have always gone with if I'm okay to drive I'm okay to BF.  I try to have a drink closer to when DS nurses, but that doesn't always happen.  If you are having 1 drink with dinner then you should be fine.

Yea I had 2 finished my last around 9 and then nursed at 2.... I felt perfectly fine also. Good to know ladies thanks!

If you can drive you can nurse. I usually drank right after breastfeeding so there was max time for it to metabolize. If drinking more, say, once LO goes to sleep for a long span, just be sure you drink lots of water.

this. I will only have one glass of wine right after he eats... I feel better waiting 2+ hours to nurse again. I don't drink more than one drink unless he is down for the night (he STTN) or I plan to give a bottle. I have the strips, and generally, if I feel at all buzzed, it's positive. When I feel completely normal and test, my milk is usually good. The one exception is when I drank an entire bottle of skinny girl margarita on the 4th... Like 6 hours later my buzz had worn off, but my milk was still testing positive, so I just kept giving him bottles.

I've followed all the rules posted already, still used a strip and it was positive. For me the strips are for piece of mind. I pump when I skip feedings, save the milk and dilute it w "good milk" the next day and re test... Can't just waste it! Babies livers are so immature mon
