Must I ferber naps AND bedtime at same time?

Hi all,

We started to ferber this week and it has been going well for bedtime. Naptime is a different story. I don't mind nursing to sleep for naps or having my LO sleep im his swing for naps..but does it mess up nighttime training?? Must I do both at same time?

TIA

You do not have to do at same time - some people find it easier. We did bedtime @4 months and naps @ 5 month. Day and night sleep are handled by different parts of brain. But improving one often helps the other and vice versa so do what you are comfortable with. For us maps were harder and took longer.

Nope. We did nighttime about a month ago (it went REALLY well), but we haven't done naps yet. Honestly, we might not do naps. He's in daycare full-time, so it kind of seems pointless.

We did Feber at night at least a months before putting LO down awake for naps. Naps where a lot harder to do. CIO did not work for us for naps, but worked great at night. I slowly started putting him down more and more awake. He now goes down totally awake for naps and bedtime with very little fuss. Its awesome!

We started out doing both at the same time and ended up doing nights first.  Naps often take awhile longer to 'take'.  Supposedly it 'takes' faster if you do both at once, but it was too much for my LO.
