Medicaid coverage

Is anyone here on medicaid? We started trying almost 9 months ago and I think it may be time to see a doctor. Does anyone know if medicaid will pay for any treatments if I need them? Has anyone had medicaid pay for any of your treatments to help get pregnant?

I hope not, since the insurance I pay for barely covers it.

If by chance you're serious & not just trying to start shiz.......

No, medicaid will NOT cover any treatments to help you get pregnant. Medicaid will only help you AFTER you are pregnant, for doctor's visits and delivery...

Medicaid only takes care of everything medically necessary to keep you healthy...no elective procedures like infertility treatment are covered. If you are on Medicaid it will cover all the costs of pregnancy and delivery.

It won't be elective, we have been trying for months now and I think I can't get pregnant. I know they cover prenatal care and delivery I'm trying to find out who would pay if I need some type of specialist or treatment.

It's recommended to visit RE after 12 cycles of successful TTC on your own. If you are not already doing so, start charting so you can confirm if and when you're ovulating and make sure to BD during fertile days. Keep in mind, there's 20% chance of conceiving each month and it can take up to 12 months or longer to conceive. I will not comment on your medicaid situation but I do not believe your post will get positive responses.

We have to have medicaid so that we have insurance. Why should I not be able to get pregnant? We both work very hard and want a child. We can't get insurance through work, so we have no other choice.

Might as well. Seeing as I can't even afford to get treatment myself, yet my tax dollars would be paying for someone else to! Confused

    The answer is NO.

If you didn't know companies are not required to offer insurance  leaving employees the choice to go uninsured, take medicaid or pay more than they can afford for private insurance.  Please keep your judgemental opinion to yourself. If we made enough to pay for pricey private insurance we would not qualify for medicaid. We work so we are paying into the system as well, so let's not even take this there. Medicaid is available for people who need it (surprise some of us even work, imagine that??) I'm getting pissed about some of the rude replies here.

You have to understand that even those pricey private insurance companies don't cover IF treatments usually - so when you come here posting and it seems that you feel they (or someone else) should cover it for you... it's not going to go over well.

If you're on Medicaid, you should wait to have a child. If you cannot afford their healthcare or your own without government assistance, you should wait until you're more independent financially. My husband and I were incredibly poor when we first got married, and we chose to wait until we had grown-up health insurance before we started TTC.

Cantalopes- don't you know? If you fall under a certain tax bracket, you can also qualify for government run daycare programs at little or no cost?

There are so many ways to take advantage of the system it's sickening.

We've considered part time jobs but with our work schedules it would be impossible to schedule another job around it. We both work just under 40 hours a week (the company doesn't offer 40hr work weeks) and the shifts vary from day to day.

Also, the insurance is a non-issue since many plans won't cover IF treatments 100% anyway. So even if you do get other insurance, finding a plan that covers everything would be unlikely.

You may have a right to have a child, but you also have other avenues to get there.

How about saving up  for the cost of treatment?

We've considered part time jobs but with our work schedules it would be impossible to schedule another job around it. We both work just under 40 hours a week (the company doesn't offer 40hr work weeks) and the shifts vary from day to day.

Ah well, this is even more ideal when you have the child you can't afford enrolled in the magical daycare that costs zero dollars a week.

How do you plan on paying for daycare? I hear that is pretty pricey.
We won't need daycare our parents and other family will be caring for our child if we both are at work.

If it does, I am going to strongly reccommend that everyone who needs fertility treatment quit their jobs.

Might as well. Seeing as I can't even afford to get treatment myself, yet my tax dollars would be paying for someone else to! Confused

    The answer is NO.

     We are tax payers also!

Sales tax maybe....I'm no tax lawyer but I seriously doubt you pay income tax if you qualify for medicaid.

Honestly, this discussion point is a non-issue in my opinion. If you can't afford "pricey private" insurance, then you sure as sh*t can't afford IF treatments.....sooooooo, IF you do in fact have fertility issues, then you probably won't even need to be thinking about childcare.
