***Late Weight Loss Check In***

It is that time again ladies for the Weight Loss check in. Sorry for the late post....I was drinking away my sorrow from the gross wedding dress I ordered overseas.....spent the day on my stationary bike, ate a nice ass steak dinner and drank WINE all night. Sounds pretty healthy (j/K)

If you are new to this check in please tell us:

1. What are your weight loss goals?
2. What are you doing to loss weight?
3. Any tips, recipes or workout information would be great.

QOTW: So my goal is to lose 10 pounds in six weeks, which starts next Monday for the wedding. I bought a stationary bike and so far have been riding it 60-80 minutes a day depending on what I'm watching on TV. Has anyone here been sucked into a diet fad and had horrible results? I tried the HCG diet prior to my first wedding and though successful it felt so unhealthy!

Me: 33, DH: 32

TTC: 2 years

IUI #2 B2B 6/23 and 6/24, three mature eggs and 130 million sperm! FX this is the month!  BFN 7/8

3rd cycle benched due to cysts - TI with OPK tests -  BFN

3rd mediated cycle: Clomid+Trigger+TI  (three follies left side, one on right as usual....what the hell right ovary get it together and produce some damn follicles!) 7DPO progesterone level 43 with NO suppositories YAY for a natural strong ovulation. Beta canceled started spotting 13DPO - Third time is not a CHARM! 14 day cycle WTF! Everything looks normal - RE wants to start injectables next cycle so this cycle I'm benched

I would love to get involved in this.. I need the motivation to lose weight!

    1. What are your weight loss goals?
Would love to lose 10-15 lbs over the next 6 weeks or so

    2. What are you doing to loss weight?
No white carbs... I'm diabetic so i'm basically back to carb counting and eating healthier carbs... Also trying to go on the treadmill everyday when I can.. That doesn't always work out for me though!

    3. Any tips, recipes or workout information would be great.
I do A LOT of crock pot cooking especially during the winter months.. I have a great lentils and macaroni recipe for the crock pot that I make a lot and it freezes well!  I'd be glad to share it if anyone wants it.

    QOTW:
You name the fad diet, I've done it.. or at least it feels that way! The latest was medi-fast.. Although I lost like crazy, I felt AWFUL.  Very  bloated all the time, my blood sugars went out of whack, and I was extremely lethargic.

Well I am up about 2 pounds, the holidays finally got me! Truth be told, I know I got myself. Time to rekick it into high gear and go!!!

QOTW-I have tried a ton of different fads and really they have all been so restrictive I quit in a month or less. The one fad I have done well with is clean eating! I even got H to do it with me and so far we have been doing it since July and it is working-score! I want to move more to paleo/GF but I feel I have to take small steps to get there!

@cupcakegal930  I love crock pot cooking too. I have to say I miss lentils so much since they are too high carb for my ridiculously low carb diet.

@cateyes543 I was never into doing paleo or GF but find that I have learned a lot about both since doing keto. If you ever want good recommendations for small steps let me know, I know way too much about gluten free/paleo flours and substitutes.
Well do! I am part of an accountability group right now so I have gotten a ton of good recipes which helps! I think that is the hardest part for me is knowing what to eat-so now that I have cookbooks and the group meal plans I am doing much better. I will send you a message though if I have any questions!

rainbowbridge14 they are high in carbs but I figure if thats my high carb meal for the day than I'm fine.  A lot of times when I make it I'll have it for dinner, and than for lunch the next day and have a low carb meal for dinner. Everything in moderation I guess.  But I do love my crock pot!

    New here!
Although I'm not overweight, my RE has me on a special low-carb diet (basically no sugar, potatoes, brown rice, oatmeal...but I can have fruit)
    1. What are your weight loss goals?
    None at this moment
    2. What are you doing to loss weight?
I just started training for my 3rd half marathon in conjunction with my diet (above). This month was reaaaalllly rough with all the sweets staring me in the face at work but I powered through!
    3. Any tips, recipes or workout information would be great.
I found a recipe on Pinterest I adore: Philly Cheesesteak-stuffed bell peppers (low carb, not low-fat).
--sauté onions, mushrooms, and garlic in olive oil until caramelized. Add in strips of roast beef until warm. Salt/pepper mixture
-Cut 2 bell peppers in half (cut away seeds and ribs). Line peppers with a piece of provolone each and stuff with sautéed onions and meat.
-Cover each pepper with another piece of provolone and bake for 20 mins @400 degrees until cheese is melting and browned.

    Even good as leftovers

    ETA: mushrooms!

Bit late but I'd love to join this! I've been attempting the weight loss thing since we started TTC, and so far I'm down 20lbs. I had a bit of a gain lately with the emotional eating again. But making myself kick my own ass starting January!

    1. What are your weight loss goals?
I have a lot of love to lose, but if I could do another 20lbs it would be my first mini goal.

    2. What are you doing to lose weight?
I go to the gym 3 days a week, which is what my schedule allows right now. And have a mini gym set up at home. I would love to get back into Pilates daily, another New Years check off.

    3. Any tips, recipes or workout information would be great.
Water water water. I make myself drink if I even think about something to eat. I freeze half bottles of water, fill the other half with water, then rotate them throughout the day. And can usually get in 4-5 litres on a good day. I found it's been the biggest help for me.

QOTW: I did the shake thing a few years ago and I lost 45lbs. But once I went back to normal eating it was tough to stick to the calorie limits again. I'm really interested in trying Keto buuuuuuut I keep talking myself out of it.

So happy to see new people joining this post!

@rainbowbridge14 every week I read about your AMAZING runs and it makes me want to run so bad, you are such an inspiration to my exercise hating brain! I got a stationary bike and have been biking 60-90 minutes a day, but I really need to RUN!

@Cupckegal930 welcome to the post and it looks like you and I have the same goal of losing 10-15 pounds in 6 weeks ! Love crock pots and lentils so let us know about your recipe! Uggg I'm a carb whore to the max so I just don't know how to give up bread and bread items!

@cateyes543 most of use gained weight during the holidays...but at least you are honest with yourself. I tend to lie to myself so I don't feel so bad about weight gain (bad Tiko)! I tried paleo for a month and it was hard and I didn't really feel any better so I stopped, but I have an awesome paleo coconut macaroon recipe if anyone wants it.

@babeRN101 welcome to the post. I'm impressed by your marathon running! I wish I could get into it, but I just can't.....I even read Born to Run and bought barefoot shoes...I have them on now because they look cool, not because I run lol :)

@RufflesaurusRex Welcome! What shakes did you do? I've been using my chocolate shakeology whenever I'm hungry, but don't feel like making anything and it keeps me full for a while. Good idea on the water. I try to drink lemon water throughout the day.

So I gained some weight over Christmas...I spent my first Christmas away from my family and with my fiances family and since I'm shy and have anxiety that means I drank a SHIT load of alcohol the whole time to relax me. We got back Sunday and I'm back on my stationary bike for 60-90 minutes a day. Anyone have any insight on stationary bikes and if they actually do anything? I mean I sweat the shit out of my shirt once I'm done and the machine tells me I'm burning about 600 calories an hour, but I know those computers aren't totally accurate. I know I should be running, but the gym is too far and it's winter and cold as shit out. AHHHHH!

I want to join in this as well.  I need some kind of accountability!

    1.  Overall, I'd like to lose the 25ish pounds that I've gained in the past year, but a short-term goal is to lose 10-15 before my birthday in March.

    2.  I need to really watch what I'm eating, limit starchy foods and sugar as much as possible, and get myself doing more when I get home after work.  My job has me logging close to 10K steps on a daily basis (according to my fitbit) but I need to do more.  I'm hoping that with my thyroid being more where it's supposed to be, that I might get a little bit of my metabolism back.  I'm thinking about doing the online WW again.

    3.  I have to log what I eat, and have a limit set, because I have a really really really hard time with moderation.  I'm more of an "all or nothing" kind of eater.  I can't just have one cookie.  If I start, I have a hard time stopping.  As for exercise, I plan to mix it up a bit and alternate between 21-day fix workouts and DDP Yoga.

As for fad diets - I lost 35 pounds doing South Beach back in the mid- to late-2000s, and weighed under 120 when I met my H in 2007.  He likes to eat (he's a runner), so I matched his habits, and by the time we got married in 2011, I was up to 160.  A few months later, I started the Pink Method, which had me losing another 30 pounds in about 8 months by cutting out gluten, dairy, and sugar.  I was able to maintain that until last winter when I started eating my feelings and was getting really sad and angry watching people eat all the fun foods during the holidays.  A cheat here and there turned into bringing back all my bad habits and I'm at my heaviest that I've ever been now.  I also tried the 21-day Fix over the summer but that just didn't stick either.  I've had some success with WW in the past, so I'm hoping that might work for me again.

I'd like to join this. I need something to keep myself accountable.

    1. What are your weight loss goals?
I'd like to loose 10-15 pounds.
    2. What are you doing to loss weight?
Honestly, nothing right now. I have a weightwatchers account and haven't used it in two months. These past two months with TTC have been fairly depressing and I'm the type of person that eats their feelings. I often find myself buying stupid snacks that I don't need when I go out to the store. I've gained like 10 pounds just being stupid. I really need to buckle down and get back to my regular weight. I'm starting to feel like my clothes don't fit well which is just making me more upset. How do you get past it all and keep yourself on a good path?
    3. Any tips, recipes or workout information would be great.
I really like weight watchers and feel like if followed it helps maintain a healthy diet. I don't work out so I'm no help there. I've tried a variety of fad diets and have found them hard to stick with.

I am starting my challenge with the city trim down on Jan 6th, but in the meantime, I also got a mini stationary bike. It's just the pedals and a digital display. I have to use a dining room chair with it, but it was only $40 and it works in my small space. I starting with just 45 minutes, but last night I did an hour and 10 minutes.

My best friend has agreed to be my accountability partner next year. It should help. I've also started keeping a log of everything I eat and how much I exercise. I'm not necessarily counting calories for restriction, but just to monitor what's going in and out. I'm hoping my best friend holding me accountable will keep me from slipping back into a disorder.

Q: I've been yo-yo dieting and off-and-on anorexic or obsessed with exercise since I was 12. I've tried so many fads (except juice cleanses). I think the healthiest "fads" out there right now are Paleo/keto and Mediterranean. However, the latest Vogue featured an article about the new Viking diet. It's also known as the Nordic diet and it sounds like a healthy mix of Mediterranean and Paleo. It seems very reasonable and I'm thinking of trying that at some point. Right now, I'm just trying to make smart choices and listening to my body's hunger and fullness signals.

Since you only have six weeks, I would recommend doing the following (I have ideas for workouts if you want!):
Monday through Saturday: cycle 1 hour, plus 50 squats, 1 sixty second plank and fifty crunches in the morning and at night. Limit calories to 1500.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 15 minute ab workout (pilates, or any number of great ones on Pinterest) Just make sure it's hard enough to leave you barely finishing by the end.
Tuesday and Thursday: legs workout (make it hard like the ab workouts)
    Saturday: arm and back workout
Sundays: rest and increase calories to 1800.

Sleep 8 hours each night and drink 3/4-1 gallon of water a day. No soda or grease and limit salt and sugar.

    Good luck!

@rainbowbridge14‌, I'm with u with buying the cute running gear. Nothing gets me in the running mood more than a cute top and new colorful running socks !

@Gizmo36‌, I know what u mean about "all or nothing". If I have one Oreo, I have to have 30! That's why I'm not allowing myself cheats unless it's a very special occasion. I noticed the last time I had a treat (chocolate fondue), I had horrible sweets cravings the next day! I'm an addict!

@rainbowbridge14 I have Merrell's and really need a new pair they are starting to get all worn out on the inside, but I LOVE them. When I started running in them I ran for half a mile, instead of the suggested .25 miles (to slowly get your body into barefoot running) and I messed up my left calf big time. I finally got up to a mile in them, but my left calf never really recovered uggg. I have a severe lack of patience so I just wanted to get into the barefoot running and got injured instead. Boo!
