The birthing center I am receiving prenatal care at is two hours away from home. But if I have a complication (or an issue that requires quick attention) there is a hospital less than five minutes away. (I last toured this hospital's "Birthing Suites" two years ago).
My last hospital birth was 15 years ago. All the rest of my births have been home births or birthing center births.
25-30 min from home, 15-20 from work. There's a closer hospital in the city I work in, 2 min from work and 10-12 min from home, but I like ours better.
