Pumping question....

DS is EBF. On Saturday DH and I are going to an air show and my mom is going to watch DS. We will be gone for awhile, about 8 hours. I plan on bringing my pump since we will be away so long. I have the Medela Freestyle so it doesn't need to be plugged in and I'll bring a cooler to put the bottles in.

I've never pumped in public, so I wanted to see if anyone had any tips. I'm worried the car will be too far away to keep going to it.

Well you only need to pump when your LO eats so depending on your feeding schedule you may only need to pump 1-3 times. 8 hours total, or 8 hours at the show? You may not have to pump in public but I use a recieving blanket if I don't have a discreet place to do it.

I agree that it will depend on your feeding schedule. For me..I pump on my way (in the car) to wherever I go, maybe once at that location (depending on how long we are staying) and again in the car on the way home. That way I am really only pumping once in public. For both in the car and in pump I use a receiving blanket to cover myself.

I was thinking receiving blanket too. DS eats about every 2-3 hours. I want to feed him before we leave so I'm expecting to have to pump about 3 times. I think I'm more nervous about pumping in public than nursing in public!
