So, I am 38w1day today, had my weekly check-up today and I am 4cm dilated. Last week I was at 3cm and had my membrane stripped and it caused me to have body aches, chills, and fever for a day and a half. I've feeling the same today, is that normal? I'm also having lower back pain radiating down my pelvis and knees ever since. I'm a FTM and have no immediate family here, scared & confused. Please Help! -Allie
Membrane sweep at 37 weeks? Interesting. What you're experiencing is not associated with membrane sweep if it was done properly. Fever often points to an infection. Call your doctor.

That seems pretty early for a membrane sweep. I did it the last time around at 40 weeks. I didn't feel like you are describing, just really crampy with some discharge. I would call your doctor. That doesn't sound right to me, and I certainly wouldn't let them do it again.
Didn't ask, my OBGYN just said to provoke labor. I went to the hospital at 37 weeks but they found no infection, no nothing & they sent me home after monitoring me for an hour. Not sure if these are contractions, I tried timing them and they are pretty close. Every 2-5 mins for the last 3 hours. Spotting as well but no clear sign of active labor.
Did you mention your symptoms to your doctor at your visit today??? Makes no sense to me why your doctor would even consider stripping your membrane at 37 weeks...
This. They usually don't do that unless you are 40+ weeks or there is risk to you or your baby and they want to jump start labor. I'm confused. Why rush your labor? I would definitely call your doctor ASAP.
I Was Considered High-Risk And Induction At 38 Weeks Was My Original Birth Plan But I Didn't Want To Be Induced And Asked To Go Into Labor Naturally. Like I Said As A FTM and Completely Alone I Had No Idea What To Ask Or Refuse.
what is even going on here. OP i am sorry you're going through this but stop coming back to the computer if you're not going to call your doctor or go to L&D.
I've had my membranes stripped twice so far and didn't experience anything like you're describing and to be honest .. In my prior research (of what to expect) I have not seen those symptoms ever mentioned. I would deff call l&d. As it is your contractions being 2-5 min apart should be enough to warrant you going to the hospital immediately -- even more so with the additional concerning symptoms you're describing. Stop posting here and call the hospital advice line or go in. Being a FTM or not having family nearby is no excuse to put your health or that of your child's in jeopardy.

I'm shocked they did a membrane sweep so early. It's obviously not doing much since it's been a week since the sweep. It sounds like you're either sick or on the brink of complications. Membrane sweeps don't cause those kinds of side effects. Hope you feel better. And hope you figure out how to not capitalize every single word you type bc that's annouing!

WOW......Go home OP your drunk! (which you shouldn't be if your pregnant) and honestly before you went all crazy it seemed like you were getting lots of answers of people saying they have no expereienced those symptoms before with their membrane being stripped and gave you advice on what you should do.
Plus the caps for EVERY first letter in your posts is giving me a headache
My question is...how do you get every word to start with a capital letter? Overhappy shift finger? That's what I couldn't get passed...
I legit would like the answer to this question. It would really help out at work. OP?
It's a phone setting believe it or not!! What idiot decided that was a necessary feature I dunno .. But yea. Good thing is that it can be turned off --- OP do us all a favor and change this. Just makes you look illiterate especially when paired with the gems of replies you posted above and your choice in language in them.

I just want you to know how you capitalize every word. Do you do it on purpose? That's quite an effort to make. At least you don't talk LiKe ThIs ThOuGh. I would read on to see if you are ok but it looks like you just want to fight so it's not worth my time. Good luck raising a baby once they arrive! Frankly, kids can be real jerks sometimes so try not to call your baby a c*nt.
Also, some of the old bump rules weren't so bad. At least it automatically censored.
Lol, I just found this gem this morning. She sounds like a lovely lady! I fear we are just destined to a lot of newb questions and trolls as November approaches.

@heisenberg ...The PROPER function in Excel will capitalize every word in a cell. Because I'm a nerd that's the first place my brain went when reading this post, lol! I don't think OP is using Excel though
Ooh awesome!! What about Word? I hope there's a proper function in Word too!! Something good has come of this thread, people.
:P
What I'm curious about is, how do you capitalize each word of a sentence so diligently while "experiencing symptoms"? Sounds like an online troll to me.

I would still like to know why capitalize every word and toggle are even a feature in the first place?!?!?!

My guess would be if you were typing away without looking and your Caps Lock happened to be on, it would be an easy way to fix it without having to delete and re-type. Maybe?
@MrsG1019 ...I have used capitalize when printing mailing labels. In that case every (or nearly every) word is a proper noun.
Not sure about toggle but now I feel like I need to come up with an excuse to use it! (Don't worry, I won't use it to post crazy stuff here, heh.)
Ohh yes! Address labels -- that totally makes sense & would be useful! & toggle would only be beneficial if you had an AE and/or were a troll. It's never too late it would be fun & you'll blend in with the other ones we have all over the board this morning!
@MrsG1019 - I would use it for headings for sections in briefs and presentations:
I. The Defendant Totally Did It
Can't help you with the toggle function or why anyone would want their cellphone to be so annoying.
The toggle function switches all lower-case letters to upper case and vice-versa. Works well when you are quickly typing and accidently hit the caps lock key.

I was gonna say it could be the Internet Troll function
Wait. so the troll had to not only turn the feature on in word, but then copy and paste every response onto here just to piss us all off? UGH. too much time on her hands.
I wonder if this is the same troll who was on D14 a few weeks ago. Can't remember what the topic was, but she had horrible grammar and (I'm pretty sure) capitalized everything. When called on it, she said she was black so she could talk however she wanted. She ended up getting banned.
