Good morning...  I hoping to be starting cycle #3 in December... Maybe.  This next cycle may even be with a new RE.  I have an appointment tomorrow with my current RE to hear what he has to say.

Yesterday was my two year anniversary.  We have been trying to conceive for a little over two years.  My first IVF cycle was in June and cancelled due to low estrogen.  My second cycle was supposed to be in August, but my body did not cooperate with lining up the RE's schedule so I got pushed back to September.  I had 6 "nice looking" follicles and better estrogen levels, but only one egg was retrieved and it did not fertilize.  When I called the office to schedule a WTF appointment, then nurse started talking about donor eggs.  After only 1 full cycle I was not ready for that discussion so I started looking for a second opinion.

Tomorrow I will know which RE and start scheduling appointments to get the next cycle going!
    I am 37 and DH is 40

Good morning ladies! We have been ttc since April of 2013 and started our first IVF cycle this past February. It has been exhausting both mentally and physically. At this point in the game I no longer stress over everything because I feel numb to it all. Anyone else feel like that?

I am day 6 of my 4th cycle and so far so good. I have more follicles than I did the last 3 cycles. Totaling at 25 today with 7 that were measurable. I have an estimated er on October 28th but nothing ever goes as planned so I'm not betting that will be the day.

@Christieh917 I hope your appt goes well tomorrow. I know that it can be stressful to switch re's. Keep us updated on how it goes! Thinking of you!

    Hi ladies.

MH and I started this journey about 2.5 years ago. Due to MH's Cancer we only have his frozen sperm to work with. We did our first IVF cycle in September 2013 and it yielded 10 great quality embryos. Due to a severe case of OHSS our embies were frozen and we had our first FET in October 2013 which resulted in a BFN. I was diagnosed with a mild case of adenomyosis which was then treated with Lupron for 3 months. Our 2nd FET resulted in twin conceptions. At week 5 I began to bleed. At week 7 I lost the first twin. At week 9 I lost the second twin. Utter devastation. I changed RE's because I wasn't willing to listen to the "gestational carrier is your only option" talk anymore. My betas had to be tracked to zero which took about 4 months! I had a polyp removed and did 2 months of LUPRON (frankly not long enough). Then we did our 3rd FET which resulted in another BFN. My WTF appt is on October 27th and I hope we get something encouraging from the appt because right now I'm pretty discouraged:(

    Hello All,

We have completed 3 rounds of IVF. The first round resulted in a CP.  Rounds 2 and 3 we did a freeze all. I did my 1st FET in September, which resulted in a BFN. We are just begging FET#2.  I have low egg reserve (due to my age) and my husband has low sperm count. On top of everything else my uterus hates me, and usually has some issue.

@O2girl - GL with your appointment.

@Justone13 - so far those are great numbers!  FX they continue to grow and give you lots of eggs!!

@Carol77B‌ your plug for it starts with the egg is so inspiring!
Out of curiosity what does your implantation failure protocol include? What is the perceived benefit of extraction?

@mm29‌ good luck with your cycle, it sounds like it's off to a good start! I'm curious about the unexplained MFI. Was that conclusion drawn after the DE cycle? I just haven't heard of perfect frag and analysis and there still being an issue. But now it has me thinking..

@missmarypoppins, the only way it can be explained is unexplained MFI. IMO, I think it has to do with the balanced translocation he carries. My RE had said usually the only indication for embryos slowing down after day 4 is due to MFI (sperm) and since his DNA frag was normal and his SA is normal she did not "know" what is wrong with his sperm. With BT the only way to know there is a problem with the embryos are due to them being chromosomally abnormal, but I don’t buy it.  I think that if the embryos are chromosomally abnormal a lot of them will not progress to blastocysts.  But I’m no expert.

It makes me sad, because it was the 1 thing we had going for us. It crushed my DH. He has taken it really hard, but said it would be a double standard if we didn't try DS, since we did have a DE cycle

As @Carol77B said.. I too am a firm believer in the ISWTE. I have seen marked improvement after sticking with the chemical free, bpa free life style. I also have been taking supplements to assist my crappy eggs.

@RunCC37 I'm so happy to see you here chick!! You have been through hell and are so freaking strong!! I just passed my anniversary date w/ my first meeting with the RE. It def hits you hard when you think how long you have been at it. I hope that your follow-up goes well for you and that your doc can figure out a good plan for you.

@tabbytown I too thought it would be a cake walk to get KU. The issue was my DH so why am I the one that can't get pregnant? Its hard not to go into a dark place when you have been through so much heartache and suffering. Just know that we are here for you as you go through this.. You aren't alone! I hope that you can come to an agreement with your DH on where you go from here.

@MeatandBandP Welcome! I am so sorry for your loss. I hope that your next cycle will work for you. When do you think you will get your results back?

missmarypoppins The implantation failure protocol (my RE just told me it is also the same protocol they use with RPLs) involves having the endometrial biopsy/scratch the month before the cycle, taking prednisolone, baby aspirin and Lovenox. I can't remember the exact timing, but I think the steroids started before ET and the baby aspirin and blood thinner started a few days after ET.

The thought behind sperm extraction is that sperm antibodies could be causing our problems with fertilization and the only way to see if there is any difference would be to do the extraction. I had also read that if there's a problem with DNA fragmentation, extraction is supposed to bypass that, but my RE/clinic doesn't believe that.

Just thought I would add for those getting implantation failure. It is my opinion that Dr.Braverman is the best when dealing with this issue. I'm on a few different boards for reproductive immunology. I'm from the UK originally and RI is very popular so many boards on UK forums dedicated to RI. It just seems to me women have more luck on his protocols but that is just my own personal observation. If anyone wants my protocol message me and I will be happy to share. I know many who have had success with this protocol that didn't have success with Dr Kwak. Many have success with her too and she is great and love all the nurses however she won't try anything new or aggressive even if it's been proven to work. Bravermans protocol is simple and even your Obgyn could prescribe it. Dr. Kwak would not, for no good reason at all.

Hi everyone, I am currently on Lupron for my 2nd IVF cycle and scheduled to start stims on Friday. We are starting with a lower dose of gonal this time to hopefully slow down follicle growth to maximize the number of eggs retrieved. Our last IVF cycle I had close to 25 follicles but only retrieved a total of 8 eggs, 5 mature and fertilized, 1 blast transferred and 3 to freeze.

A little background on our journey: We have had 1 IVF that was technically a CP but I consider a BFN (beta was 5.1 when). We also did 2 FET with the first resulting in an early MC and the second being a BFN.

@MeatandBandP I can't see why you wouldn't use the steroids with a FET, too. Maybe ask your nurse? Luckily, it was such a low dose (5mcg, I think?) that I didn't seem to experience any negative side effects from them, but found it crazy that I had to wean myself off of them!

    ETA to correct spelling.

    ***Losses Mentioned***

Hello everyone. I am currently waiting for our 1st attempt at Donor Egg IVF. DH and I have been TTC since June 2011. We did have a surprise BFP while waiting for our 1st RE appointment in February 2013 but I m/c'd at just under 6 weeks. We started doing IUI's that April. After 4 failed IUI's we decided to move on to IVF. Our first IVF cycle was in January and I got a positive beta. Beta 2 was lower and after the 3rd we knew it was another m/c. In May I had a laproscopy/hysteroscopy and everything looked fine. Our RE also did RPL testing and I found out I have Factor 5 Leiden and MTHFR. We did IVF #2 in July. Even though I was put on a lot more meds since I didn't respond as well as they thought, I did even worse. The doctor only retrieved 3 eggs (2 were mature). They both fertilized but were poor quality so we did a 2dt. That IVF failed. Our doctor suggested using DE since I don't produce enough eggs and they are poor quality. We have our donor picked and our finances in order. We are scheduled for January. Never thought I'd be here, but here I am. Sorry if this was long :)

     All Welcome :)

Hi ladies!  Mind if I join the group?  I'm definitely not as full of sunshine about this process as I used to be.

A little about us...  (losses mentioned below)

I'm 32 and DH is 37 and we married in Sept 2011.  We started to TTC a little over a year after we were married (Dec 2011) and were elated to get a BFP in early Jan 2013.  At the end of January, we found out we had a missed miscarriage.  We were devastated but my OB/GYN wasn't concerned because we got pregnant quickly and it was our first miscarriage.  After an agonizing natural miscarriage helped along  with misprostol and months of tracking betas to zero, we were ready to TTC again.  Two chemical pregnancies later, we knew something wasn't right and made an appt with an RE in July 2013.  All the testing resulted in now showstopping issues so we moved forward with a TI cycle in Sept/Oct 2013 in order to encourage ovulation earlier in my cycle to help with egg quality.  The result was another chemical pregnancy.  Our RE recommended we move onto IVF with PGD because we must have a chromosome issue with our embryos.  We did two ERs in Jan and Feb 2014 resulting in 4 chromosomally normal penguins.  We transferred 1 in March resulted in a BFN and one in May which was another missed miscarriage.  After my WTF, my RE recommended we enter into a banking program and get some quality embryos since I'm not getting any younger.  Then we can either try again with me or pursue surrogacy.

That brings us to today.   I'm currently recovering from a moderate case of OHSS as a result of ER #3.  We switched to a lupron down reg protocol from an antagonist and got MUCH better results.  We added 20 penguins to our "bank" but are still waiting on the PGD results from these embryos (we have 2 left from the earlier retrievals).  Once we know how many are "normal" we will decide how to move forward.  I think we will do at least one more FET with me before pursuing a surrogate.  For now, we are between cycles until we clear up this OHSS and get the PGD results.

After everything we've been through, I am a little jaded by this whole process but I'm not ready to give up on my dream of having a biological family yet.  Sorry this got so long!

I had my follow-up appointment today.  I shouldn’t have wasted my time.  When I scheduled the appointment I specifically told the nurse that if donor egg was his only option to not waste his time or mine.  Anyway… I went today and he told me all about when is wrong with me.  It took forever to get through all of that.  The he got to options… he has only one option.  DONOR EGG!! Done.  Nothing more.  Donor Egg.  That's it.  BTW, it costs about $10K....  He can F-off!

I had a second opinion appointment a couple weeks ago and he seemed much more positive with other options. .  I am DEFINITELY changing doctors.

@justone13 Hopefully we will get the results within the next week.

@carol77b I am going to be doing lovenox and baby aspirin after transfer since I have had repeat losses. I am doing a FET. Does prednisolone only help if you are stimming and doing ER? Just curious since my doc did not discuss that.
@przemosbabe It is interesting you say that about braverman. I live in NYC. I had my first acupuncture session yesterday and asked the acupuncturist his thoughts on Braverman and he was not a fan. He said he feels like Braverman just throws every medicine under the sun at your. Either way, I was thinking about making an appt since I am local and he seems to focus on early loss/implantation issues.
@MeatandBandP - I'm on prednisone for a non-stim cycle (donor eggs, so my ute is being prepared like it is a FET).

@Justone13  I only said that I bought it.  LOL  I am not much of a reader, but I promise I will read it.  I have been in work hell for two weeks.  We are shorthanded and I have been working crazy overtime.  It's been crazy.

As for the new RE, if I can get my referral in place by November 1st, I should be able to cycle in December.  The only issue is that this clinic also batches, so we'll have to get my body to line up their schedule.  My body does not like that.

@Justone13  I am ok with the batching if my body is willing to do it.  I am more upset with the fact that my RE said that I have no other options when the second opinion doctor told me of at least 3 other options. He told me there was not other protocol when I know that is crap.  I have heard many of you ladies talk about so many other meds that he never suggested, tried or gave me a reason that they wouldn't work for me.

Hi Gang. I am having a bit of a rough day. We met with Genetic counselor yesterday and started bloods and all the nonsense that comes with it. After speaking with my Dr. today, everyone thinks its better to have us wait until the new year for another cycle. Most of this decision is based on the fact that my beta is stuck in the 30's from my m/c 3 weeks ago and it refuses to budge. And the fact that Cornell shuts down its lab for cleaning and inspection in dec. I have been put on a Low-glycemic diet to help combat the PCOS insulin egg ruining issues. I was okay with it at first, but now I am pissed. I am hungry, sad and angry. Today, I went to the gym and despite paying 100$ for a personal training session, I could not drag my ass through it. All I wanted to do was cry...and eat.

@ChristieH917‌ I would try with the other re. Even if it doesn't work at least you tried all you can. I think that different meds and a protocol will help you. I really do.

@CRMhoney‌ I'm sorry you are having such a shit day. I hope your numbers come down quickly but maybe it would be good if you let your body rest. I fought with my re about putting me off after my June cycle but I'm glad I did. Can you drink wine? Is that low in calories? I think vodka is too! Xo

    Hello Lovelies!
We are about to start stimming for later this week IVF # 3, after IVF # 1 failed last November (cycle # 3 is lining up to be about the same timing as # 1 was), IVF # 2 was a CP in April and FET # 1 was a BFN in June.  So far this cycle I have had a hysteroscopy and endometrial scrape, and am on levaquin, trental, coQ10, vitamin E with the hopes of improving uterine blood flow and decreasing inflammation.

    Hi ladies,
I am not sure whether I qualify to be on this board, so please let me know if I do not, and I'd understand. But although my number of IVFs is small, I feel like I have stuff to rant about being there and having done that.
Long story short: I was diagnosed DOR in December 2013. Our first IVF cycle in April failed after we transferred three embryos-- no implantation. I then saw a different RE for an IVF cycle in July but decided not to cycle with him to due some timing issues. In the meantime I got an app with Dr. KK and saw her in September. We were scheduled for IVF #2 for September but it got cancelled due to only two microfollicles and a cyst. Dr. KK told me that I need three cycles of IVIgs and prednisone treatment to bring my very elevated NK cells and cytokines down in order to be able to get pregnant. I just did my second IVIg on Friday and am on 10mg prednisone. I am hoping to do a natural IUI in two weeks and then do my IVF in early December if everything goes as planned.

@przemosbabe I have tried to send you a private message but for some reason I could not. I work with Dr. KK and we are gearing for our next IVF cycle and would like to hear which specific protocol of Dr. Braverman you were referring to in your post. Could you send me a private message please?

Hi ladies- I'm another "not quite yet qualified to join you," but would like to if you will have me.  I'm way beyond the chipper phase and could use y'all's expertise and encouragement from similarly situated people.  If there is a better place for me, please let me know as I feel homeless right now.

Here's my story (most of which is in my siggy):  4 miscarriages in the last year, 2 failed IUI's, and my first IVF officially failed today.  I retrieved 5 eggs Monday (after tracking 7 solid candidates), only 3 were mature, only 2 of those fertilized, they made it to Day 3 and I got the call today they stopped before the made it biopsy for PGS.  So I've got nothing.  Nothing.
