We're thinking Conlan Jacob for one of these boys. Jacob is for DHs grandfather. This was our boy name for number 1 but I'm not sure I'm in love with it. It seems kind if a mouthful to enunciate both syllables. Also the LN starts with don. Thoughts on the name Conlan? I have also considered Conall but DH doesn't like it.

All I can hear is kids in middle school taking Conlan Don... and teasing him with "condom" I would think that would be a probably with any name that starts with Con. Jacob is great though!
Conlan is a real name, it is Irish and means hero. But it is hard to say. I don't like Connor or Conrad but there are some other good suggestions in here (Callum and Conall are on the list already). I know when I asked about it 4 years ago nobody like it then either.

Are you in Ireland? Because I checked several reputable Irish name sites and none of them show it as a real name.
To me, it sounds like a last name. I always think it's very strange to give your kid a last name as a first name, unless that last name has some sort of special connection (like your maiden name). Even then I think the middle name spot is a better place for that.
I'm surprised it's not listed in more name books/sites. Maybe my book is a bunch of hokey. Like I said I don't love it, so I'll just tell DH it's off the table.

Re: Conlan?
I'm not sure how I feel about this... perhaps pp's suggestion of Conrad, Connor
maybe Colton, Conan?

Collin, Connor, Conrad are better.
Conlan makes me sound like I'm gurgling water.
